A built in firewall for the collaboration feature so we don’t get our DAWs hacked.

I'm guessing Bitwig will finally try to please the existing userbase by showing the piano roll some love. Ableton users got awesome workflow update in 10.1 and the internet was swarmed with positive feedback. The navigation/automation features alone made the workflow super fast and intuitive. Bitwig could really use similar core update. Existing users all know what I'm talking about, and the dev's know too.

That's my expectation, too. Having said that, if they now came out with the on-line collaboration features it would turn many more heads considering we all might be on lock-down for the next 1-2 months...kpv wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 8:28 amI'm guessing Bitwig will finally try to please the existing userbase by showing the piano roll some love. Squeezing out online collaboration due to world pandemic would be very short sighted and poor decision to say the least.

Why? I don't mean they should release it if it's not ready, but apparently Bitwig is built from the ground up with those mechanisms in place, so maybe it's doable and would work just fine?kpv wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:51 am Squeezing out online collaboration due to world pandemic would be very short sighted and poor decision to say the least.

Interesting I just tried 10.1 (I still have suite 9) with this new 90 day trail, I just could not get past the browser and to be honest the program just looked and felt dated to me after switching to mainly using Bitwig for the last few years.kpv wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 8:28 am I'm guessing Bitwig will finally try to please the existing userbase by showing the piano roll some love. I still dont like the MAX integration, but it is an improvement over 9, I didn't care for the wavetable synth at all (but then I have Serum, Massive, rapid etc so cant ever see me using it). Live is still a great DAW, simple, uncluttered, functional and 10 is no doubt better than my V9 (although still not worth the £230 upgrade!! cost) but I am still happy with Bitwig for the type of things I do (and did before with Live).
Thats said, neither yet replace Studio One for me when working predominately with liner tracks and live audio (singers, instruments etc). It would take a great deal of improvement to audio (including adding ARA) and midi tools and very good comping to be added before I could consider that...
Even if Studio One added a Live/Bitwig style clip launcher (as Logic is doing) I would still use Bitwig for various reasons (the grid, CV, racks/unified modulation, on my MS Surface) but obviusly this is a luxury and I know a lot of people are looking for the 'one DAW' solution for all types if music production...personally I cant ever see myself being DAW monogamous, life is too short

This is right, and I edited the previous post as I thought afterwards it was a little bit too negative, and not good argument since I didn't take into account that this feature been worked on for long, not since the pandemic, and therefore my post was not even worth keeping.antic604 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:58 amWhy? I'm going to stay on 3.0.3 (my plan is still active) until I see some useful audio/MIDI/workflow improvements/upgrades/features for speed. If not, then it's business concluded. As far as I'm concerned anything else will amount to needless time consuming distractions. I don't care if they turn heads, I'm not a cheerleader and I have no stock in the company.
That's my 2¢ that Bitwig won't be getting if they don't

Two things, which currently Ableton Live does very well, that I would love to see in Bitwig 3.2, are "Drum to MIDI" and "Stretch MIDI".
Okay, not so much of a speculation, as a wishlist

I think it would be a smart thing to do right now, it seems they are already prepared for it so it wouldn't be just something tacked on and a lot of musicians are going to need it in the current situation.kpv wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:51 am Squeezing out online collaboration due to world pandemic would be very short sighted and poor decision to say the least.

That's the great thing about the Bigwig Upgrade Plan, you don't have to pay 1¢ until you see something you like- until then, keep enjoying V3!JHernandez wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:36 pm I'm going to stay on 3.0.3 (my plan is still active) until I see some useful audio/MIDI/workflow improvements/upgrades/features for speed. Yes, I did not take into account that it is supposed to be already built to the program, and they might as well have been focusing on it since 3.1. I guess the excitement for a long overdue workflow overhaul got the best of me. But on the more positive side, Bitwig has delivered big updates before and it's been a while, online collab and fundamental overhaul is possible, if either one is going to be the focus of 3.2.aMUSEd wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 3:55 pmI think it would be a smart thing to do right now, it seems they are already prepared for it so it wouldn't be just something tacked on and a lot of musicians are going to need it in the current situation.kpv wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 9:51 am Squeezing out online collaboration due to world pandemic would be very short sighted and poor decision to say the least.

I jumped this 6th birthday upgrade since i figure there is no way i would/could wait for christmas anyway and, actually using/activating the key is a choice of when you feel like it also it looks like, not sure if it even has a time limit, but i activated mine.

Not sure if one of the Bitwig devs was behind Live's auto/warp/beatmatch-thing..
