Like any physical device it is subject to wear and tear.
I don't move my iloks around unless I am traveling with my macbook pro.
I have two licenses of r2, r4, phoenix, nimbus and Excalibur. When it was my go to reverb i could justify it, can't for stratus and symphony which won't.

I'll continue to use phoenix and R4 as long as they work. I've never even tried out Excalibur, which I bought on sale and had it break when I upgraded to Monterey just afterward. R4 also broke. While it was down I bought Tai Chi Lite and basically moved on, so I really am not interested in spending a fair bit more for the Izotope upgrades. Hell I should probably use the Logic reverbs more than I do.

I found it interesting that the dev for Tai Chi (and liquidsonics) praised RC24 from native instruments, which I either have now (if I do I didn't install) or will have when I upgrade Komplete.

One of the things I use most is Supermassive, which of course is free

Same here, I'll use Nimbus and R4 for as long as they work on Windows.
The thing is, even if I buy Symphony and Stratus and I stay "up to date", at this point I don't feel confident in thinking they're not going to be dropped and replaced by new iZotope products in the next few years.

About RC24 and RC48, I remember reading a post on GearSpace where one of the Softube developers said they got to a point where they couldn't confidently tell HW and SW apart.

I usually am not happy with using unsupported plugins even on Windows... some thing may happen, a windows or a DAW update, and for whatever reason the plugin starts crashing, had that happen with an old v10 Waves plugin for example. Suddenly it starts crashing my DAW when closing a project. Granted, that was maybe an exception of the rule.

I would actually buy Stratus, but not for the full price. A proper update discount for EA owners would've been nice.
Demoing Neoverb at the moment, because at 30€ it is of course a steal, but my suspicion is that it means that Neoverb is also on the way out btw replaced with v2... Also, not a fan of the GUI, even at max size it feels tiny and fiddly.

And then I also started demoing Cinematic Rooms on the search for a new favorite clean reverb. That might've been a mistake...

I'd consider paying a $50 upgrade price, which is available for one of them, it's $79 for the other, but that AND only one iLok license? Bugger off! Two iLok licenses is a must IMO.

They wanted over $120 to upgrade both for me which is not worth it as I don't even need surround but just wanted a still being developed version of Stratus and R4

On Plugin Boutique, Stratus costs $99 (3D is $299) and Symphony is $129 (3D is $399). I'm guessing the main difference between Stratus and Symphony is Symphony has everything Stratus has plus Freeze, Chorus and Gate modules for creative effects?

No, they are two different style reverbs. One more natural, the other more “character”.
