Not enough of an expert to call myself a connaiseur but I love the sounds that I get from Diva, Spire, Sylenth1, and Dune 3.

Avenger, of course!

You, amongst others, are being too literal. The OP gave us enough context to understand what he was asking, yet you chose to ignore it.
Oh Ok! So he meant 'your favourite synth' then, when 'favourite synth' means the one which I get the sounds I like easily (from scratch).

Well, these days, when I want to do my sounds from scratch, I see first what I can do with Bitwig's synths (Polymer, Polysynth, FM-4 and Phase-4).
I like also to use these subtractive synths (The Legend, Retrologue and Saurus). They are easy to use and sound great. I like to use Retrologue the most though. I also begin to use Hive.
For more complex sounds (and freedom) I use Pigments, Icarus and Vital. (my first choice though is Pigments).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Not really. What he meant was what he wrote: That one synth you find never sounds bad. You could call it "big sweet spot" as well.

Maybe it's Pigments then!

A synth that can never sound bad isn't a synth I would want to use.

Post

Tough to pick one but Softube 84, Sylenth1, Viper, Ana, OB-XTRM, synapse stuff

Post

I’ll just go with the few actual synths (so, not Pianoteq, etc.) that I frequently turn to first, as this probably equates to the forementioned “big sweet spot”, or close enough…

Tal Sampler, The Legend, Spire.

Whatever your understanding for the question, some people would disagree!
I gave 3 answers till now. It's like the situation of the man, his son and the donkey! :hihi:

One would hope that your favourite synth does more than one thing well. I'm not even sure I could pick a favourite synth.

Well those things must have improved out of sight because they were awful when I was using Bitwig. As in unusably poor. I couldn't get a useful sound out of Phase 4 to save my life.

Maybe it's the kinds of sounds we use because I also found Pigment's sound to be decidedly second-rate. Everywhere I tried to use it, there was always something else that could do a better job with less effort. It's one of the very few synth plugins I have actively gone about replacing anywhere I had used it.
NOVAkILL : Legion GO, AMD Z1x, 16GB RAM, Win11 | Audient EVO 8 | Lumi Keys | Studio Pro 8
Korg Odyssey, bx-oberhausen, Proxima, PolyMax, GR8, JP6K, Union, Atomika,
Invader 2, Flow Motion, Olga, TRK 01, Thorn, Spire, VG Iron

I couldn't either. Sometimes it is synth A, sometimes it is synth B, sometimes it is ... etc.

They are either improved or I got used to them! But anyway, Polymer is the newest synth and I like it the best (sound and ease of use). Polysynth sounds ok for me also. They need some effects to be added of course. Modulation and midi effects are not a problem, so you can expand as much as you want.

I like to use some 'weird' sounds sometimes and FM/Additive or Wavetable can do that easier than subtractive, so I need synths like Pigments.
I think Pigments has imrpoved a lot. Still slow to start and not very cpu friendly, but the engines are great and the design is excellent.
Yes, Massive X sounds maybe the best out there, but I don't use it now or any NI synth.

There are also great synths I use like PhasePlant, Modwave, Halion, Gladiator, ...etc, but I noticed that I use Pigments, Retrologue and Bitwig synths more lately. I'm noticing also that my style of music is changing a little bit (still synth pop though).
