For me it's Massive X. Always have a good sound when I make the sounds from scratch. I think it's the oscillator and the fxs, and maybe the filters.
But it's really slow in my laptop. Opening the plugin takes 3 seconds. Also the automation is really bad.

What's your synth?

Probably Spire. But, Largo is also one which I always get inspiring sounds out of, when I open it.

Massive X. I don't actually have it but the demos I've heard around the 'Tube sound so consistently good, I'm thinking of getting it eventually

There are a few I have used that never seem to sound bad from the get-go:
Synthmaster, Saurus, Diva and OP-X Pro II.

Every synth can sound good or bad, it just comes down to whether or not it sounds *right* for my needs. That said, the one soft synth that can pretty much always get me where I want to go is Omnisphere, probably because it's been my go-to for sound design since the day v1 was released. In hardware, probably my PolyBrute or Prophet 6.
