Presets are located in the location selected during installation (it's my custom path). Where does the plunging look for presets (if not for the path set during the installation?)
The preset path can be set in the bottom half of the preset tab of the plugin, which is also home to some other global settings.

It's already groovy&punchy how I like it. And this is not bad for what Vaporizer has to offer for me. For one it's hilarious to have 3 fx chains that one can chain together. And in contrast when you try to add a env to the filter it's gives me an endless journey into trial&error and many head scratches.
Anyways ... the track needs some work mixing wise and the short middle part needs rework.

Glad to hear you say that... I have been feeling exactly the same! :ud:

Eh, that's already sound-design in general: trial and error by applying what you think you know, and seeing how it sounds. 😉

Well, yes... but man, I've used a lot of synths now over the years and this one has been mind-boggling trying to get the envelopes and modulation to behave in an understandable way for me, it seems strangely different to everything else and almost broken to my brain :dog:

Fully agree. Very strange and un-intuitive for me as well. It seems the whole modulation and automation functionality and behavior is done in a certain way that is different than most other synths.

Nice track btw !

I have my set of sound design "recipes" which work for most synths. one such recipes is for instance "the sine plus pitch mod basedrum". Usually this works by just slapping an env on the pitch mod target of a sine osc and dial in a short decay.
Not want to say that I always use the same bred and butter sounds. there's plenty of trial&error in normal rounds as well, in order to find the quirky/edgy but interesting sounds of each synth. But when the bread&butter recipies don't work as expected, it takes some more time ... Anyway. Don't want to say Vaporizer is a bad synth. It's a good synth which requires little more time. And I think when you fully understand it, it can be a powerhouse. I didn't dive to deep into the WT editor for instance. I just used it to dial in a CopyCATT subbase. Once you epxect the surprise and start thinking like a Vaporizer ... it's fun. In the end I like the sounds I was able to squeeze out of it ...

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here. I already have Vaporizer2 and I would like to enter the contest but I still have a couple of silly questions after reading the rules. Can I use automations clips from my DAW to automate built-in parameters like pitch and FX dry/wet knobs? And use external FX plugins for mastering purposes (EQs, multiband compressors)?

Yes, no problem.

Yes but...

Commercial effects allowed, but some restrictions apply (no modulation fx, flanger, phaser', etc), distortion/saturation should be subtle

Automation is fine, but not at audio rate - the guideline is usually, as fast as you could move your hand to turn a knob or throw a fader.

You can crank the onboard effects as much as you want : )

Onboard effects:
>Go crazy (they are part of the synth, after all 😉)

Free effects are generally nothing that excessively transforms the input:
>No self-modulators (no choruses, phasers, flangers, FMers, etc)
>No transformative/heavy distortion (saturation is generally ok, for example)
>No buffers (ie no granular, stutter, shuffle, etc)
>No external pitch/frequency shifters

This month, there is a rule that also permits commercial plugins to be used, but they still have to follow the same rules.

But anyway: automation of anything is allowed and encouraged, as long as rules are being followed.

For plugin ideas, check out previous months and their entries, particularly the winning ones.

Finally: there is a relatively active Discord where a few of us hang out and talk about rules and ideas, if you want faster answers.

You just have to create your track, upload to Soundcloud and post a link and the details of instances used and fx used here. Then you are done and in the challenge. Remember that you must vote in the first couple of weeks of January - if you don't your track will be disqualified from getting a prize.

Look forward to your track - any genre goes!!!!
