No problem, glad its sorted.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:39 pmAnd... it works! Perfectly first time. I was surprised, the folder had identical naming to the new one I downloaded. License is already there in the iLok.
So a thousand thank yous.

I'm calling this as the first officially trolling post of the thread.concealed identity wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:48 pm Not sure why OP thinks they are entitled to get the latest versions of all of the Soundtoys plugins for free and tickets to Disneyland just because they have a license to one of the plugins for free? I have contacted them to tell them the old installer works fine on W11. Let's see if they respond.gaggle of hermits wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:51 pmin your interpretation. I'd argue it's somewhat ambiguous as WR has pointed out as a lot hinges on the intended meaning of "new device". and as you've likely got an licence on an ilok for the shifter, I'm a little intrigued by your apparent reading of that meaning.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:42 pmNo, because they explicitly said in their reply that I have to get a new version. Full quote in the OP.gaggle of hermits wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 12:47 pm and did the OP ask support at any point for a copy of the v1.x installer?
Because it's funny you're taking this line as had you asked and they refused you'd have a slightly better case for your attempt to recruit the torches and pitchfork brigade.
I don't know what's ambigious about "new device". A new Win 11 machine is a new device. Nothing ambiguous about their reply, hence my OP. Not asking for pitchforks either, even though I got them not Soundtoys.
It's been quite the education. Some helpful folks on this thread, and I'm very grateful. I think the OP was perfectly reasonable in the circumstances, it was poor customer support - hopefully this small incident will improve it. I'll confess I hadn't realised that Soundtoys was a company many seem to regard as beyond any criticism whatsoever, and some of the responses have been near-hysterical. C'est la KVR!

I have to assume you're trolling here as it's not difficult to find posts here criticising ST for not doing zoomable interfaces and various other things. c'est la Karen!noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:20 pm I'll confess I hadn't realised that Soundtoys was a company many seem to regard as beyond any criticism whatsoever, and some of the responses have been near-hysterical. I'm just going on this thread, and people using inane words like Karen.gaggle of hermits wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:27 pmI have to assume you're trolling here as it's not difficult to find posts here criticising ST for not doing zoomable interfaces and various other things. c'est la Karen!noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:20 pm I'll confess I hadn't realised that Soundtoys was a company many seem to regard as beyond any criticism whatsoever, and some of the responses have been near-hysterical. Still, thanks to the kindness here and not thanks to their support I have a happy outcome. I think we're probably done aren't we? Move along...

it's both a bit funny and tragic watching you go through all these motions just because of your pride.

Because you don't own it, it was given to you for free. Free means no support usually, and who would expect support for a free product?noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 11:56 am If anyone would like to explain to me why support were perfectly right and proper to say I have to pay to unlock rather than pointing me at installers I have a license for, by all means go ahead.
I mean at what point does giving something away for free start costing you? At what point is the lack of money you've contributed to the code you used worth anything? This is the classic gift horse in the mouth but much worse. You're going online and trying to make them into the bad guy.
Waves will give you free plugins, guess what? if your OS or other parts of computer tech move on and you need WUP 23 to run that free plugin, Waves doesn't give it to you for free. Your comparison here actually just confirms the obvious, free doesn't in any way shape or form mean endless support, or really any support.

I've literally addressed this exact point earlier - Waves = $12, Soundtoys = $39, so I'm taking this that the thread has run its course and will just repeat forever.machinesworking wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 4:39 pm Waves will give you free plugins, guess what? if your OS or other parts of computer tech move on and you need WUP 23 to run that free plugin, Waves doesn't give it to you for free. I was going to suggest mods lock it, but I'm gonna give Soundtoys a few days to respond.

Waves fee is paying for….no actual changes? Not sure but sometimes WUP just leads to a newly working version with no new features, at least on Mac.
ST fee is paying for…upgrade to the full version, many more features?
You can lock your own threads without mods doing it, I believe.

True... but with no option to do anything else, it's essentially the same tax to keep what you have working.revvy wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 7:32 pm Waves fee is paying for….no actual changes? Not sure but sometimes WUP just leads to a newly working version with no new features, at least on Mac.

Didn't know that about thread locking, thanks - as I say I'll give it a few days to see if they reply.

Oh and here we go - here's support's reply after I said that the original installer works just fine:
And with that, I'll lock the topic.
I did specifically say I was using Little Microshift (I just re-checked), and I only downloaded the installers in my user account, so happy to put this down to operator error their end.Oh glad to hear that! Sorry if it seemed like I intended to mislead you.
Yes, the V1 MicroShift license you own was a free promotional license. I assumed that you were trying to use our current MicroShift software on your device which is why I suggested you upgrade through your Soundtoys account. If you have any issues with that V1 license on your system, it will likely be due to using outdated software on a newer DAW and/or operating system. If the V1 software is working well, I am glad that I was able to tip you off to you having the wrong installer for your product!
Please let me know if you have any other questions and enjoy the plugins!
And with that, I'll lock the topic.
