Scaler 2 is the most confusing plugin I have ever used

Then just take it slow. You don't have to master every single detail in the blink of an eye. Write down all the things that confuses you and check off one thing every day. In a couple of days it will all come together. You are not in a hurry.

I gave up on it. Every now and then I open it up and within 5 minutes gone again.Smasha wrote: Thu Jan 18, 2024 11:39 am Trying to use a bass sequence from Scaler 2
Just clicking anything that says bass because the SCaler menus are just way over my limited brain span.
So I choose a rock sequence from the bass section, hit the scaler kb and it plays the sequence which I have routed to Mojo Bass.
So I use the same note in Cubase and it just plays the one note, argh.
Then I see the Scaler 2 pattern thingy at the bottom and think I should move the bass sequence to a pattern but I have no clue how too.
Every time I open this plugin ,I get a severe headache.
Just no intuitive to me at all.
If you are SUPER BRAINY,yes it's great but for me,It's overwhelming and I have watched multitudes of you tube tuts on Scaler 2 but the plug in just does not work for me on a conscious level.
Everything is so confusing.
Was thinking of just maybe using the sequencer in Sampletank 4.
At least I know what I'm doing in that.
P.S. I think Mojo Bass 2 has a built in sequencer but a bit pricey at the moment sigh.
Scaler 2,I never use it.
The headaches come on as soon as I look at the GUI.
Now Scaler 2 is not playing the sequence at all.
Probably pressed a button I don't know about.
Are there plugins that deal with bass line sequencers that I can route to an instrument besides the impossible Scaler 2?

Don’t be discouraged. Scaler 2 is intricate but not impossible. With some VSTs you really have to dig in to get the most out it.Smasha wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 7:21 am I am hopeless with musical theory.
I learnt to play major and minor on every key on the keyboard by ear.
But I don't understand why there are AUG and Dim triads and all that stuff.
I know the Scaler course explains it but that stuff goes woosh, right over my head.
Seeing that chord theory is a struggle, Scaler is gonna multiply that. Like others have said, go through the YT tutorials REALLY SLOWLY. Try to experiment as you learn. It’s the best way to learn your way around and get used to things. I had to do the same thing, and I definitely didnt learn it in 1 night.
If you can play an instrument you CAN (meaning physically) play Scaler 2 as well with good results. Just take your time.

Version 2.9 was recently released with some nice additions. I wonder if a v3 is around the corner. Hopefully they will rework the workflow - I like the interface as a whole but the way to do things always makes me confused.

Just don’t use it. That way it works perfectly.

Grabbed for £23 recently and quite like it.
I doubt I'll get too deep, I just enjoy selecting a key/scale, finding some chords that inspire me and drag/drop onto an instrument track.
I'm in and out in 2 minutes

Why would you need the already exsisting notes to the pattern editor?Smasha wrote: Wed Jan 24, 2024 3:56 am Now I tried the midi detect function.
It detected the notes but they were not draggable to the pattern editor and are smaller boxes than usual.
Sheesh, need to be Einstein to use this.
I thought you could select the bass in Scaler and drag those notes into a pattern and it would play the different bass sequences but when I tried that ,I got no sound even with the FM8 turned on and record armed.
This plugin is just not practical in use.
Those are for chords, and Scaler found and suggested scales/chords for you from those notes it detected.
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

I bought it a long time ago in a sale, and have never loaded it once.
Guess I win

Scaler is the best theory tool there is, imho.
It does have a learning curve but put it’s worth it. It is by necessity a complex plugin.
It also has some of the best tutorials and courses I’ve seen for any music software.
