Is that a dirty cobweb @1:44? This pushes my OCD through the roof.hey212 wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 11:55 pm Interesting, they went with machine learning over component modeling bc they were afraid to break the dude's tape machine.

Yeah no, that was running the Arturia at absolute maximum sample rate (384kHz) and with it's own oversampling turned to max.. so probably the end result is 768kHz overall.jamcat wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 8:25 pm 26% CPU for a single instance?![]()
Those are IK Tape Machine numbers
And yes, a single instance of one of the IK tapes is around 25% cpu usage on this machine.
If I run the Arturia tape on default settings at 48kHz and it's 'studio' quality setting, then the CPU usage according to Reaper is 5.2% of one core.

Haha! I think it might be, looks like there might be some victims in it as well. I wonder what order harmonics they add.

Huh, I have OCD but yours is next level apparently haha. I can't even see a cobweb at that time stamp, but as long as they didn't include the cobweb in the plugin GUI I'm not bothered.

Demo-ing this despite the fact I already have all the IK tape machines, the UAD studer, Satin, wavesfactory cassette etc.....and I'm really surprised it sounds so good. Much warmer than the others to my ears, and it has this really nice flutter / fuzziness that I haven't heard in the others.
Some obvious omissions that could be addressed are wet / dry on things like instability, so it's not always on 11, all the time.
I'd also like to see the oversampling numbers, rather than just options for studio and render. I'm happy that there's oversampling at all as, for me, anything over 2k needs to remain un-aliased.
I like it a lot, and it might become my go-to. Thought I had all the bases covered with the others, but it seems I still have room for another one.
Running on render quality at 10% on a windows 8 core i7 3.4ghz ( minimum ) with 96gb ram.

Is it though? This is supposed to be a super-well maintained and regularly used machine, not something they just pulled from the attic.
I'll gladly admit that I have a set of professionally trained eyes.I can't even see a cobweb at that time stamp

Taupe ? C'mon, they sell it as Tape plugin, but it's far from being Tape, but you can use the eq. AA hype was yesterday, imo with most of their releases they mainly create a new look, that's obviously their main focus, to create something that looks fancy. Their compressors are a joke.
Since there are many J37 emus, many a man probably won't add another one, so I am surprised Arturia don't give it away as a freebie like usually every year

Crikey! That's not good. Not sure how close it is to the tape but you don't want that catching and then spooling into the tape. It also looks mucky on the top of that plastic guard.hey212 wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2024 4:56 pm Look under the semi-circular, clear plastic bit above the spool in the foreground.

It's fun when they name drop albums from some of the biggest artists ever to prove it's a good unit. BUT those original albums sounds really bad today sound wise - and NO ONE would release something sounding that bad today......

Now with your screenshot I'm even more convinced that it's really an old cobweb.db3 wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 10:59 pm Probably just a bit of fluff beneath. The dark marks on the top look like symbols.
And yes, of course these are symbols, but the top is also rather dirty.
I really wonder whether they didn't notice when filming it or if they just didn't give a damn - and I'm not sure which of both options irks me more.
