Didn't remember to compare. But at 386khz and the "render" quality setting the plugin itself reported 26% cpu use, which I assume is single core use. Mac M1 is my CPU.jamcat wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 7:28 pmHow’s the CPU? Better than IK Tape Machines?bmanic wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 7:22 pm Okay now.. damn, I shouldn't have tried the demo. This is one SERIOUSLY impressive plugin. Running it at 384kHz with the highest built in oversampling, you can push it ridiculously far without it sounding like ass.

The tape stop effect is automatable in Cubase. Neat.
I wish it had a level control to adjust just how much of the effect bleeds through though.

Indeed a nonsense and they will release a FX Collection VI in January for what.. €149 ?VitaminD wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 7:12 pm Interesting. I just crossgraded to the FX collection for 50 bucks.
Now they want another 50 bucks for a single plugin. hmm...

Luckily this is too $$$ to just buy, and I don't really need more tape. My goto is UAD oxide.bmanic wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 7:22 pm Okay now.. damn, I shouldn't have tried the demo. This has got to be one of the most impressive tape plugins out there. It's super flexible too. Love the "modern" button that removes the EQ colouring of the machine itself.
However I think I'll definitely have to give this a try. Just to give it a quick comparison. That's a pretty compelling review.

At the moment they have the lofi MELLO-FI and the multi-track 7.5/15 ips J-37, so a 30 ips mastering tape machine would make sense. Maybe they can do a different brand than usual like Otari?

IK Tape Machines run at 384 internal samplerate as well. The difference is you can’t change it to a more economical samplerate.
It would be good to know the CPU usage of J37 Tape at 192kHz.

The default preset at 192khz using "Render Quality" (i.e. oversampled) reports 13-14%. Studio quality (confusing "Studio Quality" is no oversampling) it's 8%. This is the CPU meter in the plugin itself.
At 44.1khz it's 9% using Render Quality and 3% using Studio Quality.
This is on an AMD 3950X.
