I have now tested it thoroughly…. Used it heavily on my latest EP. Gotta say - I REALLY like it.

The first release candidate is out now. Also includes a standalone clipper.

What about the other way around. If you have VCME is there any point in having the regular VC?Kretch wrote: Sun Sep 21, 2025 11:37 pm VCME is absolutely brilliant. You definitely should upgrade. You get the Vulf sound and so much more. Now the clipper section is a plugin in itself too. Love it.

For me personally, I don’t think so. I don’t even have it installed anymore, sorry to say.wintoid wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 5:31 amWhat about the other way around. I've only tried the original Vulf compressor briefly but gotta say it is quite different. The imparted eq characteristic is drastically different (VCME is totally clean in this regard... or transparent if you like and vulf drastically alters the frequency response). There's also noise and warble which makes the OG Vulf a different animal altogether.
Personally (on certain settings) I find it closer to the comp section in Tupe.
I got VCME because I really liked the comp feature in Tupe, but didn't really need the rest.
I was also quite disappointed that the frequency response changed drastically from standard to HQ in Tupe (this meant I had to use it in the HQ setting the whole time). This is something that doesn't happen in VCME as far as I could tell.
EDIT: the EQ issue in Tupe has been fixed since the latest version (3.13) and it's now possible to flip between HQ and standard without timbre changes.
I made heavy use of VCME on my latest releases during mixing AND mastering (no other compressor, limiter or clipper was used as far as I remember):

You’re right. The OG VC is something different altogether and has that distinct Vulf signature sound. I used to have it in parallel a lot. Since I’ve got VCME, I’ve stopped using it though, and use the clipping section for the saturated sounds that I need. I dare say there’s still quite a bit of Vulf in this.

Code: Select all
Hey there, VCME is done!
We're just finishing up the manual, adding the latest UI images, etc, before doing a public launch / announcement. If you want to grab the latest installer, please send us a support email. We didn't want to spam the beta testers since the changes between C1 and this impending release are pretty small.
Here's the current changelog for v3.13 (which includes VCME / VCME Soft Clip as well as updates to all Goodhertz plugins).
- New plugins: VCME and VCME Soft Clip!
- Added pre/post I/O trim gains to all plugins that have advanced panes
- Added mid/side gain controls to CanOpener
- Added the ability to bypass individual processing sections in Midside
- Added some mastering presets to Midside
- Added support for tempo-based note entry for time controls (e.g. milliseconds)
- Added maximum GPU frame rate meter in Diagnostic pane
- Improved filter frequency response in Tupe non-HQ modes at lower sample rates
- Fixed an issue where Pro Tools’ gain reduction meters could be incorrect
- Fixed an issue with musical note entry on certain controls
- Fixed an issue with goniometer meter orientation in M/S output modes in Midside & Midside Matrix
