$200US, $130 intro... pfft. good luck with that. aren't these guys american. have they no idea about what is going on? Elton will buy it though.

$95 if you own Vulf Compressor so extra 25% off but not enough to make me bite, I already have too many compressors

That price tag made me want to try it instantly. I wanted to know if this would turn into an instant purchase, meaning then that the price shows they’re sure it’s the best compressor available today, or if this would turn into a good laugh.
But there’s no demo !!!! $130 and no way to try it !!! In other words, you have to trust them and jump from the cliff, it’s written that you won’t regret it. That’s insane !!!!

I'm guessing there will be a demo once it's released out of beta, but then it won't have intro pricing. :-/
They do the Pi day and (I believe BF deals) each year.
I pre-bought when it was announced in 2024, and I barely buy plugins anymore.

I know money is tight, and I thought Ghz stuff was hipster nonsense before trying it, but many of their plugins have become indispensable for me (esp. Vulf, Faraday Limiter, Lossy, Tilt, Megaverb, Tupe, and Wow).

You can also get a one-time 50% off (an entire order) credit from them by sending them a link to a posting of an original 'preset link' with a tune or video that you made and showcased somewhere. This credit should be fine during any type of sale as well, using it wisely might be prudent if you happen to like their stuff...

heh.. for me it was an "avoid instantly'.

It's as ugly AF though. No demo. Silly price.

I take it they don't want to sell many of them? :hihi:

I did end up buying it over the holidays and I gave the beta a quick spin last night. It is a very nice-sounding compressor, and it's very versatile. It easily added extra punch and loudness without increasing peaks. The clipping is also very flexible. I'm a fan of the clipper's sidechain tilt, which can make it more or less sensitive to the lows. I need to do more testing in VSX, of course (I haven't even played with the FET / Opto release settings), but my first impressions were positive.

For the price, you may was well pay up for Unisum. That would at least give you separate channels, mid-side, deep detector circuit configs, multiple saturation options, etc.

What multiple saturation options in Unisum? There is just the hygge circuit emulation.

I'm sure this is just the beta UI, and I wouldn't call it "ugly", just not fully refined yet. Goodhertz makes some of the best plugin UIs out there.

This plugin does have multiple saturation options which Unisum actually doesn't. Og Vulf is also very unique sounding in its compression, you can't emulate the style of compression with even DMG Compassion I'd wager. Now, I don't really like the style of compression it does but it's definitely unique. If anything the closest I've heard is airwindows-style compression such as Compresaturator.

The asking price for such a funky and, imo, highly specialized style of compression is a tough sell. There's lots of material it simply doesn't sound good on (low frequency content in particular causes intense pumping) and it's definitely not clean.

I have Unisum and find it quite different sonically than original Vulf or VCME. As @DNAudio notes, VCME has more saturation options, and it can get a lot more unruly sounding than Unisum (which I love for its granular control over so many parameters esp. in the detector). The original Vulf is not an all-purpose comp, but I love the character, and the Wow tape/turntable emulation is what actually make me reach for it over other compressors.

I don't know if VCME will sell a lot on its own, but I've always thought the Goodhertz bundles/stacking discounts (esp. on Pi day/BF/Cyber days) are a good deal.

Nah, I checked out their other plugins, and they have the same sort of GUIs on all of them. Obvs it's down to subjective taste, but I'd call all of them ugly AF. TBH I'd really struggle working with any of them. They're on a par with those awful early Fabfilter GUIs (which haven't improved much over the years either). They could at least make it look like they'd put SOME effort into GUI design...
