I just checked the hardware and didn't see that. The banks are A, B, I (Internal), and there are the optional data cards (C-01 to 64, etc.). I am not seeing seeing RD anything, unless that's found somewhere else in the settings that I'm not as familiar with.

Congrats to the developer Giulio Zausa for this amazing project (and all his other / upcoming MAME derived projects).

Just a question : the first patch of the "SR-JV80 : Dance" expansion shows a missing sync after a single key is sustained / pressed for a while (about 10 secs). The LFO-driven bassline goes out of sync to the drum loop. Is it the SAME behavior as found in the original hardware? (it should be indeed, since JV880 has no LFO tempo sync).

Anyone here who can compare to the hardware?

Nope, that's in a separate plugin, RdPiano.

This is just how Roland was naming their patches at the time. "SA" doesn't mean it actually uses SA synthesis in this case, but that it is reminiscent of.

You mean, the ROM for the RD-500 (which used the same engine) is in the ROM download, and consequently, can be used by the plugin.

No. My XV5080 has some of these sounds too. They are just sounds sampled from, modelled on, inspired by, or reminiscent of Roland's earlier generation of popular SA pianos/modules. Just because there are patches called "Jupiter 8 Pad" (or whatever) doesn't mean there's somehow a virtual JP8 in there too.!

(But there may, or may not, be samples from the JP8 - or older Roland pianos - in those ROMs and the patches are using those. But more likely, it's just a name, don't overthink it...)
