GuitarPlayerinNYC wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 7:32 pm There's no rhyme or reason to this. I told tech support that, andecdotally, .13 is unstable, so they take down the last stable version??
The question is, unstable for whom? There is differences in hardware, differences in OS, differences in drivers, differences in workflow... If 13.5.8 was stable for 95% of users and 13.5.13 is stable for 96% of users and you just happen to be one of the 95% in the former but 4% in the latter then it will seem as though they have released a "less-stable" version. It's not universal.

I do hope things work out for you. I'm fortunate enough to have been in the 95% and 96% groups, but that's just luck on my part. I've been part of the unfortunate group other times.

NOTE: all numbers made up. I don't know how many users there are, nor do I know how many are having issues.
I finally got a answer from support and it confirmed what I had found on facebook.
I was advised to reinstall 13.5.8
Which if I had waited for my response and hadnt got it from elswhere I wouldnt have been able to as its been removed from my account.
The problem is with JUCE.
Juce is the framework for waveform
No idea if that has been fixed as nothing about 13.5.13 now being stable was mentioned .
So all a bit of a lottery downloading the latest update if it hasnt for that hypothetical 4%
I still haven't heard from support. 13.5.8 is no longer listed for d/l but Traktion 6.7 and 11 are.

I installed WF 11, and Biotek 2 works, but not Bio3 or Attraktive. I was working with a Cinematic expansion pack that works only with Bio3, and I have other Bio3 content that's now useless to me.

I've heard JUCE as a culprit for many things, but I'm not a developer. Overall, WF has been super solid for me.

Did support say it was a JUCE problem?

I still think Tracktion innovates. Off and on, I've thought of changing DAWs, but I'd rather get a root canal, than expend the time in learning a new DAW.

Edit: FYI- since you're into synths- https://www.coolwav.com/ has a sale for $10, and a ton free samples. I don't think I can resist this one.
Yes they came back and advised that "Their is a bug in Juce and to reinstal the previous version"
As I advised I had already read in Facebook anyway.
And already reverted back to previous version after the help on here and before it was removed from the Downloads in Tracktions website.
I am abroad and away from my Laptop at the mo so cant confirm if ant of the latest updates work or not.
Gotcha.

JUCE is a framework within C++ by the way. It's widely used to program things for music. Whatever the case, I'm royally annoyed.

Enjoy your trip.
Yes been reading up about juice during my down time.
I am currently away working with a friend in his studio and he is using cubase 14.
I think I am going to go over to that as a investment.
Cubase was what I cut my teeth on many moons ago on a Atari and for the life of me dont know why I simply didnt just go back to it now that I am back into producing.

This version is a joke and a scandal. It's not even a beta, I think. It's completely impossible to work on. It crashes ALL THE TIME. I use Kontakt and only one SAM Orchestra library. I couldn't find the previous version (13.5.8 ). In desperation, I searched the Internet and found version 11, from a few years ago. Everything works, I've been working on it for a few days now and haven't had a single crash.

It worked fine for me, but for some people it crashes a lot. Some others have said that the .13 crashes were solved for them by the .15 beta available through the website. It all depends, of course, on what's crashing for you and why.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

They heard us: for those who still have issues, even with newest version Beta 13.5.15, and prefer a downgrade to 13.5.8, it is now available again under "paid downloads", at the very bottom of the page in a new paragraph "Legacy Versions".
Classical guitar --> Line Audio CM4 @ SSL12 --> KDE-Plasma @ Debian-Linux --> Waveform PRO 13.5

I tried the 13.5.15 beta but it didn't change the constant crashing (MacOS Sequoia, Macbook Pro). I tried using only VST3 and no AU plugins but still crashed.
I will now try to clean up old projects with VST3 plugins only, then delete all AU plugins from Waveform's settings, just to see if it makes a difference.

If not, back to 13.5.8, thanks talby.

Yup. All of the above... :?

I recently installed Waveform 13.5.13 on a new and virtually clean install of Windows 11 (25H2). I haven't been using it much for a while and my old install still had WF12 on it, so I've never tried WF13 until now. Immediately it started crashing, and that was with hardly any plugins installed (just the Tracktion ones and Dexed) as I haven't got around to moving them all across to my new install yet. The crashes seemed to happen at any time when a project was open (even a new blank one), and yes I disabled the 2D Direct setting and they continued. In one instance it said the (Waveform built in) Mini Drum Sampler caused the crash but other times there was no specific message. Enabling "plugin sandboxing" didn't help either. Very strange how some report it working and for others it's completely unusable!

I had the old WF12.5.21 downloaded already so I installed that and it works perfectly. Good to know the 13.5.8 fallback is available now, which I might try next.

It would be stranger if they released a version that crashed for everyone. It sounds like it depends on the presence of a font.

There is also a 13.5.15 beta that works for some people.

I suppose it would be, yes :) The crash dumps have all been uploaded to them, so hopefully they can get to the bottom of the issue.

13 5.8 ( WF free)
Still stable and running solid.

Still not convinced to upgrade and pay out hard earned money to upgrade to Pro if all the problems with the new uodates are just going to migrate across.
And have been left wondering if WF is taking a back seat to all the synths etc being pumped out by Tracktion.

Still considering Cubase as a solid paid for option as I know its workflow.

Although have to say been messing with Albelton Live a little to see how that works and realise that for Electronic music that is probably the way to go in the modern world of paid DAWS.

13.5.8 Pro, and had one crash months ago, which I triggered by disabling a plugin that was still running some audio in the background I forgot about. Other than that, it's been rock-solid and forgive me if I'm not too inclined to upgrade at the moment.

I don't think Tracktion is the issue--I think it's the underlying JUCE framework that has the issue. I think I'll be sticking with 13.5.8 until there's an update that seems equally solid in stability.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Will have to downgrade too, 13.5.15 (Pro) does not just crash all the time but has weird bugs every now and then, UI not reacting ect (MacOS Sequoia).

I assume there will not be a problem with opening projects that have been saved in newer versions when going back to 13.5.8 ?

Does this mean that you have tried the 13.5.15 beta and it didn't solve the issue?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

No, I have not installed the beta version. I have installed 13.5.8, and that does not appear to have the same instability problem.

My Waveform latest build 13.5. whatever is still crashing. Continously even on brand new computer. Anyone get any answers as to why it keeps crashing. And, its a lot. Anything I do it crashes put midi on track crashes. Bput instrument on track crashes. Render something then crashes.
