T2 - a massive disappointment

i'll buy T2 without a doubt, and i wish i could right now, just to get rid of the annoying hiss, but...
i musty admit i think the price rise has more to do with how underpriced T1 was than the value of the added features, nice and welcome though they are.
There are still missing features and niggles and i hope the update frequency can increase with some point releases;
though perhaps some of these are just things i haven't found yet - for example is there any functionality to colouring notes (can you mute or select notes by colour group ? ), and i really wish jules had improved groove support, but as i said, i still think it's a great update

If it's not surprising, then why do people have to complain that it's not there? People have complained and whined for months about the same things that they KNEW wouldn't be in 2.0, and then get disappointed when Mackie and Jules didn't magically add it at the last second. I don't understand it. And in the process, they truly fail to see what T2 CAN really do for them. It's a shame, really.

I think being able to mute notes by color would be fantastic! That's a great idea! Then say, if you color all the kick drum notes blue, you could solo just the kick drum. Hmmm, maybe something to add to the list!

They work well enough for me, and there is no alternative that makes any more sense than this way. You are advocating a trickle down solo, which is fine, but if I only want to solo the track that some other tracks feed into, I'd need to mess around muting those other tracks. So it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Neither way is ideal, but this way at least doesn't do something unexpected (which it used to).aldi wrote: but not usefull at all.
I wasn't aware I was required to write an essay on why I'm happy Jules has fixed most of the short-coming of teh original mute-solo system.that might be the reason why we have it that way, you simply say "i love it"
If you want though, I will:
I'm happy that when I solo a track that feeds *into* another track, both tracks are actively soloed. I'm happy that when I mute a track, Tracktion doesn't get confused if I go off and solo another track. Muting group send tracks now works as expected - that's a big improvement for me. T1 used to annoy me hellishly when muting groups.
I don't?but you don't use it often i bet.

mackie was talking about 120 new features and they havn't say what they are, so there was a chance that they simply havn't said it. when there is no grouping like beno (?) said it could have been, that there is another way to do same the same. i'm still testing way's to handle my needs on t2, maby i find something. but the chances aren't that big after some hours with t2.

well, what's happened is that they've been building themselves up into a tizzy for the past few months, and we've just entered the inevigable 'knock 'em down' phase.pakana wrote:I can't understand how improvements can disappoint anyone

When you think that this is the work of one man (more or less)then it is a truely wonderful testomony to Jules's brilliance as a programmer. This fact, however, is of little consequence to the purchaser.
The program seems extrememy stable and I really appreciate the obvious enhancements ( colour schemes, looping, midi editor, pdf documentation, sends etc.) I do remain slightly sceptical about all the number of enhancements/improvements but I do accept that most of these are 'invisible'.
Am I disapointed ?, the product does exactly what it says it will do and so how can I be. I must say, however, I am quite amazed how the obvious bugs that it has (documented in this forum and replicated by me)could get through the testing phase !
BTW I am very interested in Cakewalk's Project 5 v2, I think this could be a good partner for T2 with its Rewire function and its Ableton Live pretentions. Check it out at:

So far it's looking good to me esp as the midi editor is much improved. I noitce and appreciate the myriad enhancements aleady mentioned. Though I need to spend more time with T2 on my DAW, having only tried on my work PC on which it is running very smooth1y, it looks like a buy.
Question is where is the link for online purchase?

Exactly - it was inevitable. Sometimes to save screen space[1] I use my send track as a standard track as well.Tingle wrote:Valley-
Wouldn't being able to solo a group track make alot of sense? I just can't find a logical reason for what happens at the moment ie. all sound stops. Thats just a waste.
IE tracks 1 and 2 route to track 3, which itself contains audio or a vsti. In that case trickle down soloing is a headache.
I could live with either, and if the general consensus was that solo operations trickled back to all tributary tracks then I'd happily throw my voice in with the crowd. I was just taking exception to aldi's assertion that the mute/solo was entirely useless. IMV it's a mile better than the previous incarnation, and not that illogical.
[1] *ahem* folder tracks *ahem*

I think it'll be a few weeks before there is one.Beardedone wrote: Question is where is the link for online purchase?![]()
It seems that the offical release is May. I don't know whether a download version will be made aviable ahead of that, but I doubt it'll be for a few weeks at least.

I mean its a great stable marketable release. But it kind of irks me that my jokes about the 150 feature-riddled update were kind of accurate
