you know what?
i felt really bad this morning when i read your post, and was wholly sincere when i wrote my reply.
i've just reread this thread, and it is glaringly obvious that i didn't get aggressive about anything until after ALL of this BULLSHIT.
and when you say that we should get used to this being how you say things? i feel that my response to this follows an entirely logical sequence of conversational processes. if you want us to help you, then ask for help. don't say [(a) stupid (b) ignorant (c) lazy (d) false ] things and then tell us to deal with your style, and yet completely ignore all the valid and useable suggestions which people have posted in answer to your 'question'. if you want to look like you have something valid to complain about, go edit your original posts so that you sound polite. then any newcomers can feel sorry for you.
grab this rope; there we go. now, pull with your arms.. that's it.. keep going.. yes, now continue like this and see if you can get over yourself by the end of the day. there's a good boy.

FALSEwe need this very very basic feature before tracktion can even be considered as a professional app, useable in a real world situation, as it is advertised by mackie.
FALSEthis is not even close to a total solution. without the ability to prepare beforehand, this isn't even in the same league as a professional application. period.
FALSEit's not an opinion, just a cold, hard, real world fact.
FALSEi stand by my statement that tracktion (of which i love, so hold up on the harassment, kids) is definitely NOT suitable in the LIVE VENUE recording area. note that i said live recording...
FALSEuntil you can create and save a template, it will not be a professional live recording application. simply. and no matter how much you love and hug tracktion and tell it that it is a good dog, it will not be a professional live recording application, until templates are included. period.

But you expect people to help you even as you tell them they don't know what they are talking about.lharless wrote: i don't owe you anything.
What, like this one?FR: an actual working forum, done by mackie or raw materials or whoever owns that company now, sanctioned by mackie, on a mackie.com website, that holds it's moderators subordinate and expects decent behavior and informative patience in their responses to posts, no matter how absurd they may feel the poster has been in their writings.

Not from the userbase you don't. Why should they care? Especially when you tell them they don't know what they are talking aout.i bought and paid for the hardware that included the software, so i deserve respect and consideration for the fact that i am a new user.
It works like this: if you don't know what you are talking about, it is a bad idea to make declarations of fact. You did this numerous times in this thread. Why? You refused to listen to people when they answered your question, and told them they were wrong, even though you admit you have no clue at this time. Why? You then start accussing Mackie of being in someway responsible for the behaviour of a userbase (IE other customers) that you chose to antagonise. Why?
If you have a question, and you want other users to take time out of their day to help you, they you *are* obliged to put the question in trems that are not inflamattory, and you are obliged to at least consider the idea that the person who answers may have a far better grasp on the reality of the situation than you.
If you can't accept that played any part in getting this thread to turn nasty then you aren't going to have a lot of luck on *any* forum.
Please grow up a little. This forum can be very helpful, but as with most things in life, you get out what you put in.

ok. i see a trend here in some of my posts... i guess i should apologize instead of being a stupid american and trying to get all defensive and more agressive about hte whole fracus i've created here.
im having some relationship issues with an overbearing female, and sometimes my life problems manifest themselves in agressive ways to compensate for the lack of control i feel over my own life. and when i feel out of control of my audio gear on top of that, i can get pretty silly. ill go talk to a doctor about it. ill get a cream or something.
so...anyway, i do owe you an apology, and i do understand that the userbase owes me nothing.
point well taken.

sorry to stink up the place. ill try to clean it up the best i can. my apologies.

roger that. i guess we always hurt the ones we love the most.haydxn wrote:i hope everything's cool amongst us all then. sorry to have been such a hardass mr lharless. i hope we can be friends!
i hope you realize that i took alot for me to go ahead and suck it up and come clean about my agression... i hope you guys don't hate me now. im quite embarrassed. nothing a little beer won't help.
....moving on.
so when T2 gets here, ill be able to arm all tracks at once from a single place correct? if so, then my probs are done. im good to go. i just have to wait it out until it gets here i guess.
other than my need to work out the latency issues for overdubs, ill be fine. but that'll be another question altogether.

it's possible to map a midi trigger to arm tracks for recording too
one of the many things the MCU interaction allows. i'll be putting up a guide on that side of things in a few days

I'd like to hear what your method is. It may have it's advantages.lharless wrote:actually while everybody was open firing on me, i found a way to save a template. it works just like i want it to, and i am fine with tracktion now.

i just save a new edit under a new name, set everything up accordingly for it, arm all the tracks and for the remainder of the time that i have the program open the tracks stay armed. that's all i need to happen. so it works for me. as long as i don't have to do that manually evertime and take ten minutes arming tracks between bands, then im good to go. so, while this is not really templates proper, it works for me in this situation. hey, i may be missing something entirely obvious here, but it works for me for now. until i find the real "templates" feature, ill just do this.
and what i mean by "templates" is: to be able to save the song as "song1", in a folder, that all audio is channeled into when i open that song up. and to be able to do that from a blank file over and over again just by renaming it and saving it in a certain spot on the audio drive. that's all i need.
to be able to be at the ready for several bands, i'd like to be able to at least save a few "songs" for the recording of their whole set, or sets ofr the day or evening, in rapid fire succession in the event that im doing a festival type event where several bands may be playing that day.
im starting to think that im just missing something. but i found a way to do what i need for it to do. so once i start it up, i just set everything up for 16 track recording and off i go. i just make a different folder for each edit. and each edit is a different band. their whole show will exist on their edit. the next band gets another edit. and so forth. so it's workable.
i may be missing a whole other nicer way of doing this. and if so, please advise.

make your template a arkive
no need to copy the folder in windows then it will let you set the destonation folder as you open the arkive, but the orignal template arkive will still be where it was un chainged
welcome to the world of Tracktion!!
PS. hope things smooth out for you with the girl!
& in my humble experince of women, thay like men to be men, so put that foot down or move on, if she loves you she will come round & if she dossent then your better off (IMHO)

i found that you can only open a new version of the archive if there are no other instances of it open.. so that's not the best way if you want to do lots in one go :s but yes you've already found a good way. plenty of alternatives have been discussed in this thread, i believe
