 Then you're a mug!

 You should join the S.A.S.!
They use this kind of thing as a technique for torture training!

The singer is still painful to listen to.

Can't see how anybody could compare them to U2. There's a decent similarity to *some* of Radioheads stuff, but it's still like apples and oranges. Clueless f**kers, go back to your tarnce beats and shut up.

I like them anyways. And they're a petty good live act too.

oh the tory tossers cant distinguish emerald tablet from sting so how they're going to distinguish cold play from u2 :D the thing about wanking over keyboards and mixing blips and bloops on headphones is it causes deafness :D

Make that 40hours and I'd agree with you :hihi:

Just kidding BTW, I bought Parachutes when it came it [yes, I liked 'Yellow', so what]. I was dissapointed by the album TBH- my brother liked them though and keeps buying every album of theirs to this day.

There is state of mind sometimes, when heart calls for pure guitar pop. Then Coldplay, Travis, even the Swedes KENT is ok.
Comparision with U2 is silly. It's apples and pocket calculators. The only common thing is that they both are using guitars and drums.

I love U2 and I would never compare many bands to them. sure, U2 has put out some crap...but they have also released some really, REALLY GOOD material IMO

...but after hearing this new coldplay cd, I felt like there was a bit of a U2 sound. I never really thought that before, though.

I think all the players in U2 are much better and much more creative but i felt like there is this U2 vibe on the new cd. maybe it's just me

anyway, this thread has really went to hell and back when originally I was just talking about the production :?

it's obvious that some people will like em and some people will despise em but that was never the point. i was just curious to hear from the people WHO LIKED them and what their opinion was on the production.

i really like coldplay. there's nowt offensive about them at all. not too keen on most of the first album, but that last one was great.

not too keen on U2 tho :)
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

The comparisons between U2 and Coldplay IMHO, are that they are one of the few bands in the world making 'stadium music' - the sort of music that can send a shiver down your spine, with a light show above your head etc, etc.. Think of the opening riff to With ot Without You or the opening piano riff from Clocks. That is what I call 'Stadium Music" and there aren't many others that can do that kind of thing at the moment...

Don't forget about Depeche Mode! Think of intro "Enjoy The Silence", "Never Let Me Down Again" or "Policy Of Truth" (especially when second kick drum comes in)
