Thanks Aleksey. I tried this on a track that was recorded DI with a Tech 21 Tri-OD pedal and it added good colour to the sound. Nice one.

Aleksey Vaneev wrote: zeoy, no, I do not think simulanalog plug-ins are THAT better - they just offer better dynamics and more 'brown' sound. But they can't beat shaping functions of Boogex. As you may have guessed I have released Boogex as a free plug-in exactly because of lack of the necessary feel in the amp section. So, there's no need to criticize it further since it's a free plug-in: otherwise it could be a commercial release.
Sorry if I was harsh Aleksey. I don't think that simulanalog are THAT better. Just a bit. After all it's just a matter of personal preferences. I was just trying to help and I already mentioned the pro's of your plugin. However I don't think that it's not ethical to criticize free plugins especially when the intentions are good.

Cheers

BTW I am ready to start a new thread (not about Boogex) that I think could be useful for all of us developpers or endusers

sounds really nice - thank you! I really would like to use it without impulse response - could you implement a function to disable that?

Post

I think Aleksey already answered no, but you can use a dirac.wav as an impulse which will be equivalent to what you want.

Didn't know you could get AMP impulse responses - is there a source for others?

try noisevault - there's some Line6 IRs over there...

Alexey,

Boogex is by far the best sounding guitar amp simulator.
Even the distortion finally sounds read.
Just have been playing a whole hour of enjoyment of boogex.
I can't believe you released it as freeware. It is very generous of you.

How could I create an impulse from my mesa + sm57?

Erik.

This thing is loads of fun on drums as well as guitars. It has improved a lot since the first release, and sounds like a very nice solid-state amp.

Hey Erik,

You will need to send a spike signal out of your PC (or other sound source) though your Mesa, and record it through the 57 back onto your PC. Then use Voxengo's deconvolver. I know there are some different spikes you can download from all over the net, or maybe Alexsey can tell you the best kind to use for this and send you one.

BTW: What M/B gear do you have, a 2x12 combo or 4x12 cabinet/head (or one of their older smaller combos)?

Rik, thanks for your feedback... I also think Boogex sounds pretty good if tuned well, but it's still 'boxy' like all other digital amp-sims. I would like to get a 'continuous' (if you get my drift) guitar amp sound some day.

brianbrian told the way to capture the impulses. Just download Voxengo Deconvolver and that should be enough to capture several impulses - read the user's manual for more information.

I plan to release a Boogex update soon with several new cabinet impulses.

I think your plugins are the best. I wish I could win a bundle of your entire set of software. No, that is asking too much... how about a group buy. The Voxengo Maximo Set.

I don't find that Boogex sounds boxy at all (in contrary of all other amp sims). I played yesterday also on my mesa, and IMO the major difference is in the dynamics. On real amps, they have somekind of non linear behavior (in contrary to compressors). Frequence wise, Boogex is the closest I've heard.

Is there any chance to know what the cabinets are?

Erik.

Rock, 'Maximo' set is a bit overhelming - my practice says it won't go that easy. :)

Rik, I can't really give the real names. They all will be named generically 'Cabinet X'.

aleksey - can you implement a mix-knob (dry/wet) in the next version?
