mute: I find both equally replusive. I strongly disapprove of anyone saying "Here's my work; it's entirely free for everyone ... who agrees to obey my ideological rules."

Doesn't matter to me whether it's a pro- or anti-religious stance, or for that matter a secular political one. All of these strike me as completely contrary to the spirit of freeware and/or open source.

But those aren't really statements about music, they're attempts to place restrictions upon the use of specific software. Both are couched as polite requests, yet both leave the same nasty smell in the air. :-( I wouldn't use either product.

One comment that is forever stuck on my mind is something I heard from a stuck-up, know-it-all-but-really-no-idea-what-he's-talking-about moron going a year below me at the music studies at high school. (Of course I thought so, I was a cool know-it-all graduate at the time, but really, he was that typical "correcting everybody else while he was playing out of tune notes on his trumpet" that everybody just hates.

Anyway, to the quote: "Well, the thing about Chick Corea is that while he's very good at rhythms he really has no piano technique at all!"

You probably know the kind. A small annoying kid who wears a hat, carries a leather suit case and smokes cigarillos, and generally thinks he has nothing left to learn really.

My apologies if this post just seems like a aggression outblow (no idea if that is a word
