Okay with all this hub ub about udu doing I am thinking of doing a zulu tribal beat and soloing over it then doing that pink floyd technique were they do the tribal like vocals at the end of fearless. It was either that or fans at a soccer match.

We'll have to change the screen saver of ST3 because it's not exactly the same vegetation!Teksonik wrote:Make sure you try the Pakalolo..........bluedad wrote:surf's up, c'mon Peter.

dsan@mail.com wrote:And a follow up question....I'd like to use the space those renders will take up for sound files. Any chance we can eliminate them? I already know what the majority of the instruments look like and how they are played (and if I don't know I have internet access) so to me they are wasted real estate and storage space.LimboLoves wrote:Question. Why the 3d modeled instruments? Why not just a picture? I think it would be cheaper but just curious. I'm actually quietly getting excited for st3, even though I'm trying not too.
Are these pictures integral to the performance of ST3? Or are they strictly cosmetics?
Thanks in advance for the reply.

I noticed for an "informational thread" Peter sure is selective about which questions he actually answers. So I thought I'd quote you in this one so that we might actually get some useful information.

Didn't think people were serious, as the jabs at the pictures have been numerous. No they can't be removed to save the very minimal amount of disk space they take up, and as previously stated and shown in a subsequent screenshot those renders are replaced by meters, channels, pan, volume, etc for very good use of screen real estate with one click to toggle.
We wanted to have great visual representation of the instruments to complement the high sound quality and it wasn't more expensive to do as we have plenty of the requisite talent in-house.

Sorry you feel some things aren't serious here Peter. I can understand though to some extent.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Didn't think people were serious, as the jabs at the pictures have been numerous. Still, to get through this one certainly needs a sense of humor too.
@donato - Thanks for the up!
You are correct. Have had some other questions go unnoticed previously as well.
Guess I just can't be taken seriously

If there are questions you've asked here or on our official forum that have not been answered, just PM me there or reiterate them there, thanks. I answered your question seriously, but if you feel I don't take you seriously I am sorry as that is not at all the case. Don't feel bad, my answer and screenshot that had been posted already answering one of the followup questions about use of that real estate for more useful interface features went unnoticed too

I got that part about more useful interface features and I'm looking forward to the new interface.
That was not the purpose of my question. While the pictures may take up "minimal" space, some people's systems may not have that space to yield.
My point being, if it is just cosmetic inclusion, I don't find it necessary, for my purposes.
I do agree they look nice and enhance the visual representation of the software. I would prefer though to use the disk space for sounds.
That was my only point.
Now, knowing they cannot be removed I know what I need to do to prepare for the eventual arrival of ST3.
Thank you for responding.

What does this even mean particularly when the plugin has a 30 GB or more library?dsan@mail.com wrote: That was not the purpose of my question. While the pictures may take up "minimal" space, some people's systems may not have that space to yield.

It was stated in context of the remaining post...I would rather use the space for storing sound files than for storing pictures.
And, some people barely have enough room on their hardrives and maybe not able to afford another.
I'm unsure how the statement is difficult to understand.
Personally I find it a waste....others may not and that's fine.
At this point it is a dead issue. Peter has replied the pictures cannot be removed. Now I know I have some house cleaning to do.

The statement wasn't difficult to understand. I just find the possibility incredibly remote that the (my guess) 20 MB of pictures would be a huge deal considering this is a sample library. I acknowledge that it's possible, but I would think that such a crowded drive would have trouble.dsan@mail.com wrote:

If they're like the current ST pictures, they can be stored on the external sample drive (and not system drive).
