The license part is certainly confusing. For all practical purposes, the difference as to who actually developed and compiled the .vst3 is negligible. You download YOLO, you have it run as VST3 even if what's in your VST3 folder used to be WOOT.vst3

(I enjoy laying out those different scenarios. I don't really think that it's all that complicated, but then, I have been discussing these things for a very long time. So for me a lot of things are very clear that for many other people are completely unfamiliar and possibly unexpected results of the work - which is now materialising as real opportunities. My goal is of course to make this as simple as possible for developers as well as users. This requires work, but I'm optimistic we'll get there shortly. We got there with CLAP, we'll get there with the wrappers!)

I just want to thank you all again, for how easy and quick it is to get up and running from scratch with CLAP.

Now if you could just provide an equally quick and easy (and similarly licensed) UI 😉

I think I understand the licensing scenarios a bit better, but for the obvious case, I think it is as I suspected.

Just be careful though, this may be one of the scenarios that SB may consider of 'good cause', that is ways to circumvent their licensing agreement.. But I am not a lawyer or do I play one on tv :).

I think they know better as to withdraw the license from anyone involved in CLAP development.

Have a look at schwa's example for Dear ImGui. I', not sure he's updated it to CLAP 1.0, but I reckon the UI code will still work all the same.

But yeah, the same team that's working on wrappers is also discussing a modern CLAPable UI toolkit.

Post

A modern lightweight UI toolkit, not a full framework, that makes simple scalable UIs quick to prototype, but could also be extended for complex production, would likely make CLAP a perfect starting point.

Post

Sure, but it won't have a preset browser out any of that, I guess. Maybe this can be added collaboratively over the months and years.

Post

What would make it even more lightweight, quick to prototype or production for that matter, natively scalable or vector based, and tap into the largest pool of devs on earth, is to use a web stack for the CLAP UI toolkit, along the lines of https://github.com/ultralight-ux/Ultralight

C/C++ are great for many things, UI code is not among them. 😂

Can anyone, that understand the CLAP journey, create a visual Flowchart, MindMap, to have an areal view, snapshot, of the current situation at hand?

At least with the if-then-else to cover the vst3 alternate realities? :D

There are some Venn diagrams on page 2, if that helps. :D

On day 3, the list of potential supporters of CLAP has doubled in size. Of those we have been contacted by.

On day 4, the hypothetical concept of a wrapper for CLAP-as-VST3 has become reality, at least in a video posted on Youtube.

There are many days like that to go before we know how all of this pans out.

Also, there was an interview with Alex, Placi and me on Sonicstate. That was fun.

Those are great. I was thinking more about the licensing system ramifications.

I know. I posted everywhere :D.
As I posted above, I was thinking about the licensing system’s various way to deal with it, which seems to be asked in many different ways.
