I actually own one of the Morpheus modules, but I haven't really taken a deep dive into the non-"ordinary" filter models. I have the sampler module (Assimil8or), too. My modular stuff has been woefully underused lately.HM wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 6:50 pmGribs wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 6:07 pm I don't know much about formant shifting to match human speech. For example, whether the peaks move relative to each other with average pitch of a note for different phonemes/vowel sound. It seems like an interesting topic to investigate![]()
Deffinately, a lot litterature and info to be found in the old Z-planes also I guess,.
They certainly "speak" also ,.. 14 pole filters ,.. and lot of modulation and morph
We miss that as a plugin ,..
But the Morpheus filter lives on as a Eurorack-module by Dave Rossum at least

98.99€ = $111.68.
$111.68 -45% = $61.43 plus currency fees.
Is my math correct?
Edit:
Just saw this that the regular price for Rapid is 179.99€

I'm afraid 98.99€ is already the discounted price. What's more, it includes 20% VAT which you seem not to be able to avoid, even though if you hail from a location with a different VAT rate. I simulated a purchase just a moment ago, and unless there is some post-payment surprise, which I doubt, 98.99€ is what you've got to pay.Kalamata Kid wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 1:42 amRAPID Synthesizer3qO wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 12:09 pm 45% off Rapid synth and 30% off all Rapid extensions until December 2:

The price listed on the website is always the final price.
If no European VAT can be applied, a standard worldwide 20% tax / fee is used for price equalization, transaction fees and other things related to international costs.
The global price for the end-customer stays approximately the same in every country.

Vaguely I remember reading about this and it emerged that the implementation of the filters weren't quite the same between the Morpheus & UltraProteus- something about the morphability of the filters?OneOfManyPauls wrote: Sun Nov 21, 2021 7:37 pm In the spirit of a bargains thread, worth noting that the e-mu ultra proteus also has z-plane filters (more than morpheus) and can usually be picked up for less (although watch out for notoriously dodgy power supplies).
Here's a more contemporary selection of sounds - sounding like an outake from FSOL.
I see there are many more videos on how to program it since I last looked on Youtube. I might try to create some more patches for my Morpheus.

The sounds-sets was diffrent also ,..
Ultra Proteus being "bread and butter" rompler ,.. while Morpheus had more basic sounds and edgy lead-sounds etc.
So for programing own sounds Morpheus can have an advantage in the basic sounds
Preteus 2000 and the Ultra Samplers has even less filters but could work with own samples
For Proteus to use own samples, you must prepare on of the rare flash-roms in a Ultra Sampler

Not really audio deal, but might be useful for those who work with design/photography. Affinity has 30% off everything right now. Good cheap alternative to Adobe with their subscriptions:

They already had better deals, but, hey, still good prices for the software.
Seems like almost everyone already had better deals than this year.
Presonus and NI also did 50% off sales in the past, and this year, they only do 30 to 40 % respectively.
Well, why sell yourself short if people are buying like mad anyway, I guess.

When I bought my UP I did a lot of research on the two and didn't come across anything other than there being more z-plane filters in the UP.ChamomileShark wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 10:33 am
Vaguely I remember reading about this and it emerged that the implementation of the filters weren't quite the same between the Morpheus & UltraProteus- something about the morphability of the filters?
The manuals are virtually identical down to the page number for 160 pages, including all the synthesis parameters and the descriptions of z-plane etc. They only diverge from the reference section where UP has all the 197 z-plane filters from morpheus, but adds another 91 types - and morpheus has 48 traditional instrument, 127 "synthy" and 67 percussion waveforms sample whereas UP has 128 traditional instrument, 153 percussion and 134 "synthy". I'm thinking you might be confusing the ultra proteus with the proteus 2000, which also had z-plane filters.
the presets are definitely skewed to the traditional, but the tools are there to roll your own outside of that. Like i said, it's a bargain if you want to explore z-plane.

Toontrack is doing a Black Friday week sale, with different deals every day. Today is String Machine for $39 and four EZKeys MIDI packs for $10 each. Trying to decide if I should get the MIDI packs through TimeSpace or through BestService, i.e. Loyalty Points vs BestCoin. Decisions decisions...
