Thanks.
hey mike,

the site still takes 20-40 secs to load each page for me using Camino and 10.4.6. Safari takes about half that long, but still is kinda slow.
this is the main reason I haven't been checking the front page lately.
it seems to be that scrolling news feed, but that's just a guess.

I didn't know you published books, interesting.

between the news on your site and the forums at osxaudio.net there's a chance we could have a everything.

I've publiished about 150+ book and video titles the past decade, under MixBooks, EM Books, Recording Industry Sourcebook, ArtistPro.com, ProAudio Press, ProMusic Press, etc., but sold the company to Thomson Course Technology two years ago. I'm launching my own new line again this fall now that I'm done with Thomson, and I'm always looking for great authors. :)

Yeah, the script acts odd in Camino and Firefox, having to load all of the stuff before it scrolls, whereas it is nearly instant in Safari. I'll talk to the developer of the script to see if anything can be done or start thinking about a plan B. I like using both Camino and Firefox, which both handle it that way. I tend to use Safari more since I added that script for the same reason. I don't get 20-40 secs on a load, its more like 5-10, but its still annoying, I agree. Thanks for the input, bb.

I took the scrolling news block out of the site, and you can still get to hundreds and hundreds of pages of news feeds from over 130 sources on the site now by hitting Headline News Stories. It sped things up a whole lot on both Camino and Firefox and loads with very little delay now. The only thing slowing it down is the Google script that loads for the ads, but hey, I like making that $15 a month from them, it keeps me in weed for a week. :)

that's literally 10 times faster on my computer. thanks.

I'm always open to suggestions, thanks. I just did another re-tooling of the site's design. I closed the scrolling headlines block until it can run without requiring such a lag in both Firefox and other Mozilla-type browsers. All of the constantly updated news headlines from over 130 sites are still there, but listed from the menu under Headline News Stories.

Traffic continues to really build for the news pages and it seems most visitors are, from the stats I am getting, reading about five pages of news during each visit to the site. I'll throw this much out, if the folks trying to build a new site to bring their community pals there want to take over the forums on my site and save themselves some trouble with all the construction, hosting maintainance, expense and other hassles of running a website, I'm more than happy to let them have at it.
