Yes, that's it. Even with a Virus you need a bit tweaking to exactly get "that" sound. Two minutes of fiddling, it's mostly how you balance treble/bass and set the unison detune + cent detuning. Matter of taste. Here a quick patch.recursive one wrote:Compared to the Virus vid I've posted above it is still not as smooth and thick (ofc, it may be because 20 minutes is not enough to tweak the sound to perfection)

Almost missed thisparawave wrote: @Touch The Universe:
Nice to see some first impression videos. Also I have to say, using 3 layers with 9 unison saws is a bit overkill CPU wise. You could easily get the same sound by using a multi-sample from "Lead Detuned" e.g 283:Detuned Saw 40%.
As the sample already includes unison, a setting of 2x or 3x is more than enough for "fat" sound. Look at the Preset Leads Big/Wide Event. It also demonstrates the layer send feature. If you don't want to put a reverb on every layer, and miss a master reverb. You turn of "Send To Master" in layer 1. Send it to layer 2 and it will also run through the layer 2 effect stack.
Looking forward to more videos when you are getting used to it. Especially when using multiple sends and filter-fx. There enough stuff to discover ;D
Looking forward to trying out those other methods you just mentioned tomorrow after a good nights rest, been pulling all nighters since i got rapid
edit* @recursive, just playing more with those detuned multi-samples and that completely nails that smooth virus sound you linked. Not sure if the demo has them, if so check them out!!

Thanks !Touch The Universe wrote:Awesome track! Love what you did with the formants.
Will surely do, hope I'll have some free money before November 1stTouch The Universe wrote: You should definitely grab Rapid.
Will check them, as for now I've disregarded the sampled content. But sampled detuned wave means much less flexibility to tweak the patch. Hope these detuned samples at least don't have stereo spread.Touch The Universe wrote: edit* @recursive, just playing more with those detuned multi-samples and that completely nails that smooth virus sound you linked. @Parawave. Thanks a ton, will check out your patch

Look into the voicing tab (the one marked as "V" above the envelopes/lfos)

I wonder how long your business will continue to survive when new and, from what I read and hear here, clearly superior stuff like Rapid pops out of nowhere...

A small hypersaw test: 4 bars Rapid, the hypersaw patch posted by Parawave with disabled reverb and delay, filter replaced for analog, filter envelope tweaked a bit. Then 4 bars Virus, I tried to approximate the Rapid patch using 2 hypersaw oscillators and 2x unison with stereo spread. I didn't try to match them for 100% since Virus was not designed to be a Rapid emulation, but they sound more or less similar
