updated my 29 patches to 38. Fixed most of the patches I had. Anyway, if your interested. Not as many of others are doing but I'm slow at things.

Hey, I'm using also some cables with my electric guitar to connect it to my amp and some stompboxes !aMUSEd wrote:That doesn't mean it is "ripping" off Void. They both use the same cable concept because they both emulate hardware modular systems (although in different ways in other respects) - not because one is based on the other. Many virtual modulars use cables that look like real cables e.g. Creamware modular was probably one of the first (if not the first), then the Arturia Moog Modular, Void and others - ACE is in that tradition but it bases itself directly on modular hardware systems - not other software synthsDj Troy wrote:im just disappointed one of my favorite synths is void it uses the same cable concept
Urs, did you rip me off ??? Shame on you...

Void? You. Got. To. Be. Kidding.Dj Troy wrote:what are you talking about buying it...i wouldn't use it if it was free...i have a pretty good pc and my cpu is being hammered its my opinion if you don't like it that's your problem but im entitled to it...if you ask me this vsti is a rip off of void-i only difference is void sounds better seriously i love zebra but this synth is horrible!if you do not no what void is...download it try it and compare for yourself!bM3w wrote:Fine if you don't like it. Nobody's forcing you to buy it. But hating a synthDj Troy wrote:hate they synth cpu hog there are much much better synths out there for the price ie karma fx
That thing sounds horrible, in my opinion. It has no where near the capabilities of ACE when it comes to audio rate modulations (edit: I did only try version 1.1 which was a very long time ago so things might have changed in an update.. but still).

How do you make adsr2 decay time sound as slow as attack time? adsr2 is set like so:
a = 100
d = 100
s = 0
r = 0
Audio is VCF1 self-oscillating:
res = 100
cutoff = 40
adsr2 = +80
So I'm hearing a super slow sine siren. But I notice the attack and decay times don't sound the same. After the attack hits its peak the decay rate sounds faster. I think it's because the attack and decay times are non-linear and have opposite curves--or the same curve, depending how you look at it. The attack rate slows down as it reaches its target. Then the decay rate does the same--starts faster and slows down as it reaches the end.
The way it is now is fine for just about everything musical, but I noticed this when I was messing around with surf / explosion sounds. Sorry if there's already a way to get linear and I missed it.
Really enjoying this synth.

I went and downloaded Void for fun. Not bad at all really, though at $300 it's no wonder it's the first I've heard of it.
But that's not the point. To my ears ACE isn't attempting to be an old moog modular or something. It's got a very modern clean kind of sound. The filters seem a little cold to me. I'm not sure it's my cup of tea either, but I'd never say I hate it. There's no use in that. That's a troll talking. I dig the sound of Zebra 2 more as well, but there are enough cool tones just in the batch of included presets that I'm sure I'll get my money's worth.

I love this thing. I have no idea how to use it yet, but this is one I will read the documentation on.
I also thought the filters were a big clean. butt, this can be changed with some unique routing. you can do some terrible terrible things with distortion on this

I'm hoping to get ACE.
With a MBP and 8gb ram, the memory usage shouldn't be too much of problem, right?
My G4 with 1gb ram is crapping out with any patch that uses poly mode, but I can get it going with the "few" voices and "standard" quality.
Hlis93 has a great preset which uses 4 stacks, I think it's the "superxick" one. It really does show off the power of this synth. I never heard a preset in Zebra that could that. What a full sound.

My guess is that ACE didn't run well on the guy's/gal's computer, so he/she got p*ssed...zerocrossing wrote:I went and downloaded Void for fun. Not bad at all really, though at $300 it's no wonder it's the first I've heard of it.

Let's be fair: ACE is a CPU hog; I've got it running on an optimised Q6600, but the 4core is working pretty hard....

Every time I shut FLStudio 9.01 down, with ACE on a track, FLS freezes. It does this without fail. Apart from that it's running without a problem. Great sound.

Hi, it's me again! :D
Is there any documentation on what the 3 knobs in the circuit bending section do? I skimmed through the guide but couldn't find any information on what they actually do with the sound. Anyone?

I'm going to try and explain the "modifications" before release. We initially wanted to keep them a mystery, but maybe a few words are useful.eXode wrote:Hi, it's me again!

In short:
Slop -> subtle random modulations of almost everything, recreating oscillator/filter frequency drift quite well (apart from then detuned voices)
Crosstalk -> connects almost everything with everything else with a little feedback. That sounds much like routing the output of an analogue synth back into its input. Can make things sound really broken though.
Osc Cap Failure -> Changes the slope of oscillators (as if the accumulating capacitor slowly discharges all by itself), which reduces the fundamental and makes oscillators sounnd a bit more nasal.
