Yes, but I am not sure if I have ever tested that. So if it does not work it is a bug (cannot check before Saturday but feel free to tell me).

Yes, I would want that too but currently you cannot modify a note via the API (it is already on the Bitwig wishlist).

I was thinking about that quite some time ago and back than it did not fit into the concept (because scales work completely different). Now that you can choose the different sequencers and play modes from a list I can add it quite easily. I will put it on my TODO list.

Hey guys - can't we just slap a Note MOD over the MIDI signal path and assign a knob to its Velocity mod parameter?

As long as there is per step automation in this script like with Ableton.

is there per step automation?

However this still wouldn't be great as it wouldn't let you change the note length to do overlaps to trigger legato for example. Unless you put each overlapping note on a different note. But that would get messy if you're using a combination of the actual note and the pitch change from a pitch shifter device.

Awesome man. I think that will be super handy, especially for Contact instruments with specific layouts.

I've looked all around and can't find an example that exists for Ableton but I could swear someone did one.

But anyways I think if you use the blue color that is normally the root note, for the black keys, then leave the non-used keys unlit, that would work well. And although the black are supposed to be between the white keys, I think it'll work alright if they are on pads 2,3,5,6,7. And for the white row below it you can have the c repeat at the end. So it'll end up being like 4 little one octave keyboards on top of each other. That'll be great for Kontact drum programs!

Like i ask in another post a scale layout like this could be a great feature:

A "8th" scale layout
Each row would represent an octave of the scale
for example in A minor

A4 B4 C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A5
A3 B3 C3 D3 E3 F3 G3 A4
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2 F2 G2 A3
A1 B1 C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 A2

Thanks

YES! That a very nice idea! And I'd like to sugget setting up the Push's additional pedal jack to be used for temporarily moving that scale a halv note up or down (a momentary foot switch, just like the other one used for Sustain). That way we can reach every damn note if we need but still staying safe with the basic scale. How about that?

Both the 8th scale layout and the keyboard (Piano style) mode are now on GitHub for testing.

Hello for all again!
Big thanks,moss!

I am a guitarist like many more people using Push with Bitwig
Please let me know - is it possible to make 6 string guitar layout for 6 upper rows?
This is the same like one of the standard layouts , but need to be slided half tone between 3 and 2 strings
This will be very helpful to playing Push by guitarists with guitar style finger tabs - so - 1 to 6 upper rows will be as guitar tablature and lowest 2 rows - just for playing additional bass lines)

like this :

Guitar Layout rows:

8 row - (1 string) - E F F# G G# A A# B
7 row - (2 string)- B C C# D D# E F F#
6 row - (3 string)- G G# A A# B C C# D
5 row - (4 string)- D D# E F F# G G# A
4 row - (5 string)- A B C C# D D# E F
3 row - (6 string) - E F F# G G# A Bb C

Bass rows :
2 row - Bass lines ( for example A string of Bass Guitar)
1 row - Bass lines ( for example E string of Bass Guitar)

Hi Moss

I have some question and feature request about PUSH4BITWIG
  • Is it possible to have a shortcut with PUSH4BITWIG to toggle the visibility of the plugin selected device, like the little square button in bitwig or is it a limitation from bitwig API?
  • When i have 10 tracks, and i use Shift + RIGHT ARROW to show the track 9 and 10, it show only track track 9 and 10 then it ask me to select a track and when i select it for example track 9, suddenly it show track 3 to 10 ? Is it a bug ? Is it not possible to show only track 9 and 10 and nothing at the right ?
  • I read that it's not possible tho edit the length of a note in the sequencers, but is it possible to have bigger time divison with a shift key like 1/2, 1, 2, 3, 4 ? Maybe it will come with 1.2 API ?
  • Is it possible to have the position of the edited bar (position/length of the loop) in session view and the global mesure position in arrangement view bar when we use the different sequencers, because some times we don't know where we are when we move with arrow key ?
  • Is ti possible to move horizontally from clip to clip in arrangement view with the arrow key or anything else ?
  • Is it possible to select automatically the first device of a track instead of displaying "Please select a Device" when we dont click on any device of the current track ? And the same for the track instead of displaying "Please select a track" ?

Thanks a lot for your work!!!!!

I am not sure what you mean by "the little square button". Can you rephrase or post a picture? If you mean enlarge or minimize a device its in the the device menu (press Device button twice).

Will check.

You can use the scene buttons to change the resolution. The entered notes have always the length of the currently selected resolution.

I have some ideas for that when the API supports access to the arrangement area. Currently you can touch the tempo or play position button.

Sorry, no (see above).

That's already implemented. Are you running the latest version of my script?

I hope it will be possible in the 1.2 API

I know that when you start Bitwig that (sometimes) the track or device looks selected but not really is.
Can you give reproducable step-by-step examples which I could check?

Post

Ok thanks i will note the step this evening

Post

Ok it seems to happen with external VST like Dune or Massive, i see in bitwig info window left of the arrangement that none device is selected, and then in push it writes "Please select a Device", and i can't do. The only thing i can do is to click on a device.

For the track, it's the same, i see in bitwig that no track is selected. and the same thing, the only thing is to click on a track.

Maybe it's a bitwig bug, not a push4bitwig one ???

I'm with the latest version of bitwig 1.1.6, legal one.
