Exactly how i feel as well. I'd much rather do a cloud session, than to have my dongle plugged in every time. Especially as i only plug it in when i need it, because i don't want to wear it off. The LED's wear off, as will the datastore.mgw38 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 11:32 amThey will eventually need to move to some form of cloud solution. While many of us do not mind the dongle, it does limit mobility.chk071 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 11:26 am Yeah, i read that was well, right here on KVR.AFAIK, the person who posted that is even a mod on the Steinberg forums. But, who knows when that will become reality.

The license and the USB serial # are both in the e-license manager at launch. For some reason when I register the USB key, it isn’t showing a registered Steinberg product in my account, and Cubase doesn’t see a registration on mu USB key either. Cubase IS opening but, I assume it’s in trial mode right now. One of the videos said you could drag licenses over to the dongle. I didn’t have the dongle in the port at installation. I didn’t put it in until I launched the e-license software, which I thought the instructions on the readme file said. That may have been the problem. I’ll just wait for Steinberg to tell me what to do.

I just got elements and will sit on the license until 10.5 gets released. The important things for me are the performance improvements. I dont need the rest of that 30 gig loops and vst stuff. Also don't need variaudio since I don't record doo wop bands.

I still haven't received my license yet. I had ordered last Wednesday - I think it was the second day of the sales, so I'd think I was amongst the first batch to make use of this crossgrade offer.
WHAT
THE
f**k???
I am about to just cancel it (it's not like I need it).
I already have had enough of dealing with Steinberg - they obviously don't give a damn - what a nice start!

You need to distinguish between the soft eLicenser, the USB dongle, and Your Licenses in the eLicenser Control Center. I figure you're looking at the wrong list. Make sure you have the USB dongle plugged in, open the eLicenser Control Center, and then you can click on the respective icon on the left side to see what is on your dongle, on your soft eLicenser, and all your licenses. If you want to put a license on your dongle, drag it from the list in "Your Licenses" onto your dongle on the left side.W23 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 12:10 pm The license and the USB serial # are both in the e-license manager at launch. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, and the Cubase license just doesn’t want to go there for some reason. I try to drag it over, and it just seems to jump back to it’s spot under licenses. Or...at least that’s what I think is happening. I’ll have to do it in the order that you just described. I’ll consciously select the USB key first and then drag the Cubase license over. It was late last night when I tried it. Thank you all for the advice. Maybe it’s user error once againchk071 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 12:39 pmYou need to distinguish between the soft eLicenser, the USB dongle, and Your Licenses in the eLicenser Control Center. 1. From where did you buy it? I mean where is it cheapest? I am seeing $46 at Best Service.
2. Does it load 3rd party VST plugins?
3. Any idea what is the difference between Instrument and MIDI tracks?
It looks like a very capable version, so a little intrigued for the low price and because it does not need a dongle.

Just google "Cubase" and the website allows you to compare versions.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 1:24 pmThat's cool!telecode wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 12:24 pm I just got elements and will sit on the license until 10.5 gets released. Thanks, I did give a look at the comparison before coming here, but was not clear with the questions above.dellboy wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 1:32 pmJust google "Cubase" and the website allows you to compare versions.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 1:24 pmThat's cool!telecode wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 12:24 pm I just got elements and will sit on the license until 10.5 gets released. Yeah, it indeed is. The track counts are also decent, but I need to get more clarity on my questions above.

Ouch, this would be the end of further deliberations for me,chk071 wrote: Thu May 16, 2019 12:11 am ...
Fortunately Steinberg doesn't add the content to the list of installed and uninstallable software anymore. UNfortunately, that means you have to remove all the content manually...And that's a lot of stuff really. I think there were 25 gigs of content alone on my C: drive (which is another of those things, it always installs to C: per default, instead of choosing the drive or location where Cubase is installed). Anyway, it was worth giving it a try, and, i do think that the GUI and workflow made a huge step forward compared to version 9 which i was using before.
can this be confirmed, content by all means goes to c drive ?

(designed for OS images and no space for that).
Seems I found the personal drawback?
