Anyway, if you want to stay clear of any licensing mess and don’t want to support a closed source software you can use
2dat version of obxd (https://plugins4free.com/plugin/1844/) if you are a windows user. (or intel mac user)
Distro ports if you are a linux user (https://distrho.sourceforge.io/plugins.php)
Also note that the community presets work with both. The only issue seems to be with lv2, when i loaded it on carla i could not use presets.
I don’t know if any other alternatives exists for mac M1 but since the filter is meat and potatoes of obxd, same filter is available on surge and you can download free OB8 wavetables or OB6 waveforms (Legal Samples are available online for free) and probably make it sound even better or accurate if that’s your thing.
Rosetta2 works for now.

All these options are open source and free (as in you don’t have restrictions on what you can do as well as free beer).

Ok, Bot. You’ve opened a can of worms on this one. Linux users and open source users, although similar, are NOT the same. I want specifics. What specific negativity and criticism have you heard from “Linux” users that isn’t just criticism from the Open Source community. I believe that it is the Open Source community (from which Linux was developed) that you had problems with, not from Linux users, who don’t actually do any developing. Linux users “use Linux” and “open source advocates concern themselves with the legalities” of the source code remaining legally open.discoDSP wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 8:56 am After investing seven years of development time into OB-Xd, we have considered the feedback and contributions from the open source community. Despite some positive contributions, we have ultimately decided to keep the project closed source. This decision was made with careful consideration of various factors, such as the need to maintain control over the development process and protect our intellectual property.
Additionally, we have experienced some negativity and criticism from certain individuals, particularly from Linux users. It is unfortunate that such behaviour exists in the community, but we remain committed to providing high-quality software and support to all of our users, regardless of platform or ideology.
While there have been some contributions from the open source community, they have been relatively few in number and have significantly influenced our decision to keep OB-Xd closed source. We appreciate all of our users and value their feedback, but ultimately we must do what we believe is best for our company and our customers.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
So again, Bot, you are making false accusations against some of the strongest advocates of your company—Linux users.
Please site specific examples of how Linux users, not Open Source advocates, have provided negative criticism that has justified DiscoDSP’s accusations. I, a Linux user, have been one of your strongest advocates, because you support and provide plugins for Linux. I feel like you, Bot, are accusing the wrong community for your grievances.
When will George be coming back? I prefer communicating directly with him over a Bot.
Please respond to my above concerns about Linux users with specific examples of their criticism, that isn’t more accurately attributed to the Open Source community. Remember, real humans in these forums will serve as judge and jury as to the accuracy of your accusations.
Thank you.
P.S. George, are you all right? We miss you and prefer you to a bot.

Why is he a bot. We all know that Linux users are freaking communists, which need to be punished by capitalism or not?

George is George. The AI bot speaking for George is not George. Communism and Capitalism are irrelevant.El°HYM wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 2:06 pm Why is he a bot. We all know that Linux users are freaking communists, which need to be punished by capitalism or not?

ChatGPT is known to make things up (i.e. lie). It doesn’t think. It’s a predictive text generator. I think the Linux users comment was one of those instances. I like that it also claimed it’s the developer, which I guess if George brought it on, it could be aging it was using the royal “we”. I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape by anything the bot says.

Hey there! Just wanted to clarify that we're not just some machine spitting out random responses. We're actual humans using a paraphrasing tool to help us write faster and more efficiently. We review all our responses to make sure they're in proper English and make sense. So, let's keep the conversation constructive and respectful, okay?

I reckon you should ditch that. A bit more humanity in the responses would probably have kept things more constructive all round?

We appreciate the opportunity to engage with our community through this platform. However, we have observed that some posts in this thread have not been conducive to constructive discussion.
While we welcome feedback and criticism, we kindly request that all forum users remain respectful and on topic in their communication.
In light of recent disruptions, we have decided to limit our engagement on general forum threads to official announcements and news updates for now.
We believe that this approach will lead to more meaningful and productive discussions.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
