Beware: that thing is CPU heavy

Luckily they have included two sets of patches in the pack, one for high end and one for low end systems. But even the low end systems ones are rather heavy.

Also requires the PACE software to run (iLok w/o the Dongle) which runs in a continual background service.

Had I been a Piano-head I would most def get the PMI's.
Cheers Numanoid, still very grateful that your August coupon post got me the UVI Grand collection for $50. That was amazing. :tu:
As for Sampletekk, I did of course search all over, but didn't find too much on the MkII's.

Which of the PMI's would you particularly recommend?

At some settings the LE one has some explosive feedback thing going on. It is actually dangerous. By default the resonance is set to full even though the GUI does not show this, and as you move the filter SURPRISE! an ear full of hellish feedback like I've never heard in my life.

The Old Lady, they really did record that meticulously:
The owner achieved to install a very high-tech mechanism in the piano, designed by Wayne Stahnke that operates the piano keys and pedals with more then 1000 steps accuracy and is controlled by a computer system. This allowed me to capture each velocity layer of this perfect instrument with unequalled precision

Thanks, Numanoid. Apparently they did something similar with The Emperor, so I guess I'll go for both the Emperor and his Old Lady, and not the Bösendorfer 290. Still, small as they are, apparently they use 10 year old samples, yet polished with iZotope's RX3. What about new sampler techniques and larger libraries, bringing more depth and realism? Or did sample technology not evolve that much in ten years? What do you think?

two days ago on the 11th I when to pluginboutique's website and it said 62 euro for Virtual CZ then I logged in it said 42 euro for virtual cz and codex but then I logged out and went to buy an hour later both went back to 60 euro again. Strange, anyone else get this kind of deal, I have a 1.28 virtual case for buying izotope nectar elements for 24 euro, I don't have an ilok so I would have to buy one soon as I have 4 or 5 software with ilok authorizations, anyways I bought synthedit instead, because I only had 102.99 on my credit card so I couldn't buy virtual cz, but when I saw the discounted 78 USD price that one hour that I was logged in, I thought I'd share, even though I should have share 2 days ago.

How deep can one go, it can become too glossy to, and lose rawness/realism

One can sample until the cows come home, but it will require more and more CPU power and HDD space to cater for such gargatuan creations.

In the end the all-in-one-swiss-knife solution - Pianoteq - is the one to go for I think.

Damn.. that SSL Native bundle looks really tempting! Already have their bus compressor (got as NFR for beta testing) and I love it. I'm trying to streamline my workflow so a channel strip type of system is really tempting for me and I really like the basic sound (or lack thereof) of the SSL plugins. They could easily form the backbone of my mixing and then I'd use specialized tools to spice things up (mainly Nebula and Klanghelm SDRR for "tone" and FabFilter plugins for crazy effects and specialized tools).

Damn damn damn.. can't really afford it at the moment and the sale ends 25th.. and then there's black friday coming up too where it may be possible to get a deal on Native Instruments komplete upgrade. Damn it!! I NEED MONEY!!
