Anyone here who got Omnisphere?

The first thing I do is get rid of the boxes. I then file the discs, and any printed documentation (for example containing the s/n etc) in file folders and place the sucker in my file cabinet drawer labeled MEDIA. This saves a lot of space, AND is not so obvious to the wife. (Boxes are a dead give away when it comes to the wife factor.
So, boxes are wasted on me!
I believe that right from the start Spectrasonics had indicated that the UPGRADE (for Atmosphere users) would be shipped in an envelope. Brand spanking new users would get the box.
It also has been my experience that this is a fairly typical approach in the industry. However, I'm not saying that all vendors do it this way.

Yeah, that's pretty common. Even in my Kontakt 3 upgrade, I just got a DVD box with all six disks inside and the papers/license stuff on the side. No cardboard box. Finale works the same. ProTools works the same. I can't say that many do NOT do it this way.
Although the media itself is USUALLY the same as brand new boxes contain, and not an upgrade. I am glad companies don't do upgrade installers as much these days. Re-installing both versions is a pain!
Sorry, since this is a new product, don't know how much that last part really relates to this.

Is it correct that Omnispere does not make use of the processing power of multicore processors? I have a quad 6600, and from my sidebar dingaling thingy, it would seem that my number one core has to do all the work, while the other three cores pick their noses. It's no wonder you can't get 8 parts in Omnispere without crackles and pops.
I never really looked into this multicore business, so I don't know much about it. I don't even know if it's the job of plugin to use multicore, or is that the job of a host program? I did just check Kontakt 3 to see what it did, and it seems to use 2 cores, so I'm guessing it's everybodies job to make use of the extra cores.
Any light on this subject would be helpful.
Should multicore support for omnisphere be on the wishlist?

Kontakt only uses multi-core in standalone. Inside your host, it relies on your host to handle it(I've even gotten errors when I forgot to turn it off inside my host). So Omnisphere may be the same, but I am only guessing.

I'm piddling around with this, and found that when I load a multi, all cores are used, but when I start playing the keyboard, only the first core is used. I loaded up all eight part to see what I can get away with, and it can't be done on my system, unless I'm happy playing one or two notes. My audio starts making popcorn when the first core hits about 75%.koolkeys wrote:Kontakt only uses multi-core in standalone. maybe they could make the pdf of the box available,so users could print it and glue it to an old unused boxneverfall wrote:Per Lichtman wrote:If you e-mail Spectrasonics something can probably be arranged. Agreed on all points!
@neverfall & Novata, If you want something to display and admire, maybe you could buy a poster, or a T-shirt.
No. I paid $150.
I'd like a box. $150 worth of software....and a box.
This is important.
Lol! I'm not being serious.
I mean not THAT serious.
I'd still like a box though. I'll ask.

I'm sitting here...amazed.
I can't even make music right now. There's just SO MUCH to explore with Omnisphere. I'm checking out the filters mostly on Psychoacoustic sounds and Synth pads. I can't wait to start testing out groove lock with Stylus RMX.
I don't even want to sleep. I'm rarely ever impressed with soft synths, but this one right here is the real deal. A Beautiful synth indeed...worth the wait.
Although...
It KILLS the CPU on a windows machine while loaded in Ableton Live. I'm doing fine on Logic Studio. Still the Specs deserve mad props for Omnisphere.

Considering that a box won't keep you warm, or look as sexy on your girlfriend when she wears it around the apartment, I'd spring for the T-shirtneverfall wrote:I'd still like a box though. I'll ask.
. . . and for $150 you don't even deserve a plastic bag.

You are correct sir...
Well sorta.
As a Vocal Planet, Trilogy, Stylus Classic/RMX, Atmosphere...and now a Most Satisfied Omnisphere owner....
I think I deserve a small leather briefcase signed by the great Eric Persing Himself. Only because I'm special.

Is anyone else here having problems loading some of the Distortion patches???
Try Brutal Megalomaniac, Disoriented, and Power Blowout. The error message I'm getting states...
"Cannot load Soundsource "Blowout" from Directory "Core library". File Blowout.zmap may be missing or corrupted. Try refreshing the Soundsource Browser.
I've already tried refreshing...still having an issue.
And "Blowout" refers to the "Power Blowout" patch.
