I can do everything you suggested live in any one of my guitar packages. But I don't want to be interrupted by the garbage truck down the street, the airplane flying overhead, or the TV next door, since I live in a one bedroom apartment. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a difficult take that is turning out well and having a dog bark outside (and I have experienced that enough to know....)

And purchasing a studio in the countryside may be available to the Beatles, Lady Gaga, Eric Clapton, or yourself, but not to me. The same principle as having the incredible equipment choices for AT3 can also apply to plugged in acoustic guitar...

So I definitely want a plugged in studio equivalent - I certainly accept that others may want real mics in real studios with real groupies and free beer, but software mics and pickup compensation would be far cheaper for me to produce my projects. (I'd have 15 mics I could use right off the bat in AT3)...
+1 Ever since Amplitube Fender came out I've been using the "Almost Acoustic" preset with my semihollow more than anything else. It may not be 100% acoustic but it's a sound I enjoy. I'd really be into more of these simulations.
why not bypass the amp section entirely and go straight to a cab(s) and apply fx after? I can relate to a noisy environment, I live on the busiest street in the area (literally from where I sit at my daw right next to the wind it's about 15 feet to the street) and across from a bridge, on the other side of the river is a hospital. This means sirens all the time, in the summer Harleys etc.

You might want to get the Tech 21 RPM for a pre-amp or even a Boss CH-1 where it splits the signal to a bypass and an affected signal. Used as I describe below.

http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/rpm.html

When I was in retail often instead of the acoustic guitar amp by fender I would sell those performing with an acoustic a pair of EONs and a small mixer with fx. A little chorus with a very slooooow rate spread across the stereo field sounded great.

Seriously though, why not bypass the amp entirely in sims?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Of course, one can do this. However, it still is not the "best it can be", IMO. For example, I consider the classic tube preamp in Pod Farm to be the closest match for acoustic guitar (with no effects or cabs)..

I don't know exactly what I want here, but I will when I hear it.... :)

The electric guitar signal chain is made to make the "wires on a 2x4" sound acceptable; an acoustic guitar signal chain would be to make an excellent sounding unplugged guitar sound acceptable (especially difficult for nylon string - even more so for Flamenco). It is possible to manipulate the signal chain of the former to improve the latter, but in many cases it is not quite satisfying.....

But I do think it would be possible to add acoustic-specific options that would improve the situation from where it is at present (of course, AT3 may change my mind on that.........)

IMO, YMMV, as usual.....

(PS - so far,the best live sound I've found for my configuration is my Takamine TC132SC Flamenco (special order) into the new Roland AC-33. Haven't tried micing the amp or using the line out for recording yet... stay tuned on the AGF for that....)

is it out ??? ;-) :D

I'm definitely looking forward to this. The best guitar sounds I've gotten thus far, having the entire Amplitube range at my disposal, have come from Amplitube Fender in conjunction with Redwirez cab impulses. Even for crunch sounds, I'm going to AT Fender more than anything. If all the amps in AT3 are of a comparable level of quality to what's in AT Fender, I'll pretty much be in amp sim heaven.

Are there going to be new installers for Fender and SVX?

Out of interest, which of their impulses are you using with ATF (i just discovered the HiWatt which I like quite a lot)?

I just picked up a couple of sets from the "Speaker Box" series - the Celestion Alnico Blue and the Weber Blue Dog, which I'm really digging. The only other Redwirez set I have right now is the Marshall 4x12 loaded with Greenbacks. I tend to gravitate towards the more smooth-sounding impulses, like the ribbon mics pointed at the cones (rather than the caps).

No, AmpliTube 3 will see that they are authorized and will include them within AmpliTube 3 automatically. You'll get the new features like the better speaker cabs and moveable mics, etc. And the Ampeg GUIs will be authentic like SVX and unlike X-GEAR much to redshift factor's delight :)

So were all the Ampeg cabs "resampled" or "reimpulsed" or whatever? What kind of improvements should we be looking for there? Or when you say improved cabs, are you just talking about the ability to have multiple mics on a cab?

Post

All cabinets were improved across the board. A very nice addition to the product, but not as "flashy" as the creative effects and such :)

someone mentioned a model list, but i don't find one. is a complete model list available yet?

This should suffice: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/amplitube/interface/ :)

oh right... you couldn't just do the regular text list. :hihi:

Are there any improvements to the automation capabilities?

Right now in AT2 we're forced to use the mouse to switch cabs or amp models (I'm not talking about switching whole presets, mind you). Did you add automation parameters so that a controller like a Novation Remote allows you to switch amp models without having to grab the mouse?

Post

While I'm here-

The Boss GT-10 has a great feature called "System Amp". It allows you to assign a single amp for all the presets, so you can choose an amp/cab and cycle through every preset using the same amp - and it gives you three such choices....

This is great for zeroing in on a configuration of choice, IMO... I'd really like to see it in AT3 (and GT4 and any of the other software modelers that I use....)
