I find the scope especially useful in Bazille and in Ace... It has been a truly useful learning device to see what that modulation signal is doing, and it helps to understand what is happening in a way that listening doesn't.SJ_Digriz wrote:In no way is this a complaint or a plug to get a scope back in. However, I do think the scopes are a great learning tool for synthesis. Heck I have a real scope hooked up to my real modular all the time. It's not just about lookin' good or cool.Urs wrote:I'm excited that Hive doesn't need a scope. We've worked our asses off to make a scope happen in Hive, including a hexagonal alpha layer. But as it turns out, it might not be needed at all. I sensed a bit of disbelieve when I said "let's drop it".
Thing is, we can bring it back at any time. It's gorgeous. But as Hakey said, we should add more purpose to it than just floppy pixels that represent something you hear anyways. I don't remember why we took that out of Diva. Maybe because it wasn't thorough enough, or maybe there was a bug.

Also, the scope in Bazille, is not the same as the scope as a vst

LOL, no, we might one day release a free one as part of our "sound designer's essentials". In fact we have an amazing concept for such a tool, which reaches far beyond being just a scope.Caine123 wrote:Scope VST 99 Euros

Distracts or enhances. I wasn't arguing against some kind of visualisation. Whether it's strictly useful or not, it's justifiable eye-candy on a synth like Hive.Ameyah Audio wrote:the scope distracts you from the actual sound
(fwiw, I prefer spectrascopes)

you mean it distracts you... I'm capable of looking or not looking at the scope as needed...Ameyah Audio wrote:the scope distracts you from the actual sound you are creating, for example in ACE i always look on the scope and forgot to listen to the sound with my full attention

Sorry if this has been asked already, but looking at the first screenshot preview it looks like the order of the FX can be changed. Is this going to happen, because it would be very cool.

You can drag the FX into any order you like...tehlord wrote:Sorry if this has been asked already, but looking at the first screenshot preview it looks like the order of the FX can be changed. Is this going to happen, because it would be very cool.

I know its probably waaay too late to add this and probably wont happen since no other u-he synth does it (though it would be cool on all of them). I personally love when you get visual feedback of modulation, i.e. modulate something with an lfo and you can see some sort of feedback around what its modulating and how much. To me it just makes it alot easier to see whats going on with a patch when you can see how something is being modulated

Will Hive have the same excellent Midi Program change folder system as in Zebra? Is it also present in Bazille? I'm at a point where I need to write some custom MainStage settings and having the option to control program changes via the interface would be really, really, really useful for live setups.

I tried to make an Adam van Baker / Deadmau5 inspired example with the latest Hive beta. I hope it showcases the features of Hive you want to hear.Caine123 wrote:more audio, need more audio!
and maybe some more trancy/new style stuff
Two instances of hive. The bass/pad sound uses Dirty mode and the pluck square sound uses Clean mode:

And so that others coming to this thread don't have to wade through posts for my other examples here they are. They were made with the previous beta and I haven't checked if they still sound the same, you have been warned.
