That's a pity. I was hoping for this option (drag&drop from the arrangement) since Guru.

Can you get it to load from an audio file in the project? I got direct auto-record working on the pads, but can't drop from an audio event in the Cubase project window.

Got a reply back from support about the high CPU usage(30%-50%) They say its normal since Geist 2 is a complex sampler beast. CPU drops to 5% when gui is minimize, so it must be the new grapbics a d the busy-ness of the new interface tbat makes the cpu go crazy

Clicking the word filter under the waveform had no ill effect. I don't doubt your issue. It's just not an issue for everyone. I hope Fxpansion can get it fixed asap for you all.samsam wrote:How about open in standalone and click on the word 'filter' uner the waveform?UncleAge wrote:Not to diminish others issues but I have to agree...no issues so far on my Mac either. Hopefully that'll be the case across the board real soon.woodsdenis wrote:No issues so far here on a Mac. Well done Angus and team this is, a stellar update well done.
Maybe my mac has a tricky config - it's a Mac, running the graphics card that come with a Mac and the OS that comes with a Mac. The latest one. Edge case, I guess...
I'm on an iMac 2.8ghz i7-quad/10.9.5/ATI Radeon HD 4850
Nothing cutting edge about my setup. I am not having those issue though. I did have a seperate issue after closing then reopening the app with a 135% ui adjustment everything was off screen somewhat. I had to drag the bottom right corner of the app window to full screen just to see the preference box to correct the scaling back to 100% (in standalone). Could have been a showstopper on a smaller screen.

Yes, Service Pack 1 is installed. Thanks.mikepemulis wrote:Do you have Service Pack 1 installed?wesleymayhem wrote:Windows 7 - Ableton Live 9.6
Standalone version causes application crash on startup. Plugin comes up blank in Ableton. Anyone else experiencing?

peterdh wrote:Anyone from the FXpansion team? Again I am a big fan, but for me it's a deal breaker if there isn't a workaround besides using a calculator to determine the right time stretch percentage.peterdh wrote:Big Geist fan hereRunning the Geist 2 demo. I like what I see, but why did you change the time stretch features? Lots of my vocal samples, that are BPM labeled, differ in sample length although they have the same BPM. So Geist won't automatically give the right BPM conversion. In Geist 1 I could manually enter the right source BPM (and the right DAW/Geist BPM).
Are you planning to restore this feature? For me it's essentialpeterdh wrote:Yes, but when I select an other sample with the same source BPM on the same pad, Geist 2 calculates a fresh ("wrong") BPM... I usually try a folder with (vocal) samples which have the same BPM; the time stretch feature of Geist 1 works fast, because it holds the time stretch settings.ere2learn wrote:Can this not be done in the Slice window...

I still haven't quite worked out how to use Geist 1 but bought anyway as I have to sit down and learn one of them so might as well buy now in case I learn Geist 1 top to bottom and then get a case of sudden GAS.
By the way, noticed something about content supplied by "Splice" - I followed the link and it appears to be a sample subscription service. Anyone have experience with them? (either as a supplier or a customer) Just curious...
*Edit*
Thought I would give my experience, as I imagine there may be other Geist customers who follow the link on the fxpansion page.
Ok so I saw they had a 14 day trial (Splice that is) so I thought I would check them out (going against my usual rule - if a company wants your credit card for the free trial and then will charge you if you haven't cancelled by the end of the period, I normally run a mile). Another thing that had my spidey sense tingling was the fact that, when I was half way through the signup, I had to head out for a bit. When I came back, I already had an email encouraging me to continue the signup process (note, this is before I had even signed up properly! - however I had already entered my email in one of the fields before leaving)
So, after going through the signup process, connecting Paypal (felt a little more secure than a credit card number), my trial was activated. For $8/mth even if there were only a few samples here and there which were any good, $8/mth is low enough that there would be little downside.
However (and it's a big however), when I starting browsing the site, every sample I clicked came back with the message "this sample not included in trial" (or something like that). So, whether this means that a) the trial only allows you to listen to samples (in which case I would say - Wow, you mean like every other site lets you do by opening their web page and clicking "play"!) or b) the trial only applies to a certain category of samples. Irrespective of which one of these it is, there is absolutely no specification of such on either the trial signup page or the FAQs.
So in the end, it is the quickest I have ever cancelled an account. Maybe I am unusually dumb and I am the only person who has been misled by the way this service advertises its trial...who knows. However if it turns out that my experience is a common one, hopefully fxpansion doesn't suffer any reverse halo effects. Particularly considering the huge amount of effort that has gone into creating Geist 2.

So that means it's just going to be that way and you'll have to live with it.chili beans wrote:Got a reply back from support about the high CPU usage(30%-50%) They say its normal since Geist 2 is a complex sampler beast.

I'm really wondering if this thing got any beta testing whatsoever before it was released?
I bought it on Thursday and have found numerous bugs already in the two or three hours I've had a chance to use it. Many of these have been picked pointed out on the support forum already.
To release a bit of software in this state makes me really shake my head. Are FX that desperate for a cash inflow? Can they not spend a bit longer and get it properly tested before throwing at their paying customers?

Doubt it. More like their beta team didn't find these bugs...
I've worked with people who do rush to put things out quickly, but I don't think FXpansion falls into that category at all.
Companies like FX have put out pretty solid products, so again, I doubt there's any intent to risk their reputation.
Sometimes there's no reliable way to encounter bugs until you get the product out to the larger customer base.

You'd have thought so, especially as FX have been pretty badly burned in the (distant) past for buggy releases.elxsound wrote:Companies like FX have put out pretty solid products, so again, I doubt there's any intent to risk their reputation.

But some of these really should have been picked up during testing and fixed before releasing.
And in fact the response to reporting GUI problems to them was essentially 'we already know about that'. If they knew why did they release it that way?

If you're referring to some users reporting higher CPU usage with the GUI, could it be possible that this is more of a consequence of the new UI vs a bug?
And I say some... because I have no issues with high CPU usage on OSX with the new UI.
