Thanks a lot Sascha !Sascha Franck wrote:As Midiworks asked for a comparison between my previous Pod mockup and the VAmp, here's the same backing with the guitars now coming from the VAmp.
Excuse the less than stellar playing, didn't want to spend any more time with it.
Still the same as before, all rhythm guitars are done using 100% the same sound, the noodling in the second half is done with one single amp sound as well.

wow, flash from the past. I only tried one in a shop. But I played a wacky setup back in the day anyhow. Strat - Univibe -> VOX -> Leslie 142.Hink wrote:how shocked were you the first time you plugged into one of thos skinny silvertone heads? (assuming you did)
edit: and I want my freakin Univibe back

btw, the 2nd SF track is way better tonewise. I don't know if you used something different, tweaked settings or just played better. Maybe all three. I still don't like the distorted rhythm or the tail of the lead if sustained to long, but still much more pleasing over-all.

SJ, first track was the POD (V1), second the VAmp.
And yes, I am certainly aware of the critical parts of both tones, especially on fading sounds.

Yoh Sascha,
interesting that my dream amp "park" is very similar to yours. I would only add two Bogners to it. one of these "normal" heads he does and an Überschall. And a super mega clean to crunch tone Fender. The Matchless amps are incredible! Maybe I would even sport me one of those JCM2203 as I simply like that classic Marshall tone, too.
Now let's wait until someone puts us all this plus more into a nice little plugin!
My educated guess is that it will happen during the next 5 years but not this year.
All the best, FRitz

If you leave it to IK, they will announce it NAMM Winter 2006 and release it in 2008My educated guess is that it will happen during the next 5 years but not this year

To be honest (sure, why not!?!) I don't set my hopes upon IK as AT1 is soooo poor to my ears that it would heavily surprise me if they would make such a leap forward that AT2 is THE plugin that settles it once and for all. You know, they even need tits for the advertisement, so ...A3ntar wrote:If you leave it to IK, they will announce it NAMM Winter 2006 and release it in 2008My educated guess is that it will happen during the next 5 years but not this year

It doesn't NEED tits for the advertisement. But, if you don't like tits then maybe this isn't the product for you.
(just kidding around of course) Again, if you are a guitar player then surely you've opened up a guitar magazine before? Can someone please count the amount of tits in your average Guitar One issue please? Thank you.
As for skepticism, you are only limiting yourself. I just did a track with it today and it blew my mind. It was so easy to use and I got a killer AC30 crunch sound for an original tune I am working on. It sounded so right on and there was little to no detectable latency either! Squids is HAPPY! Sorry to gloat with my beta version here (that I can't play clips from yet... but I promise that you'll hear something within the next 1-2 weeks).
Honestly, I can boldly say that I would not understand why anyone would choose to deprive themselves of this plug-in. Does that sound like pure fluff hype to you? Then you don't get it and you don't know me. I could not and would not say that with such conviction if I didn't feel strongly about it. Anyway, to be honest, the plug-in speaks for itself (both in terms of the information on line, the layout, the GUI, the specs as well as what you will eventually hear/touch/see when you have the opportunity to see it in action). It doesn't even need Squids gushing or tits popping or any of that stuff. It's just GEAR! GEAR GEAR GEAR and a tool that I would NOT be without. Every guitar player and producer I know (and I happen to know quite a few top players in this business) wants this plug-in, without exception.
So, you want to call what I say just pure hype? Go ahead. It doesn't matter. It is what it is. It is a beautiful rockin' kick ass piece of software. For me there is no going back. Now that I have this awesome tool I can do much more with my music production and a hell of a lot faster than ever before. If you are serious about this stuff too then I think there's a good chance you will feel the same way when you have it.

Squids, there's no point in even arguing right now. Until people hear it for themselves they're just going to make unfounded comments. Just start up a new thread either here or in your forum after the sound examples are posted. At least this way if people want to complain about something, they'll have at least heard it. Also as a word of advice, make sure at least one example starts off with the guitar's volume backed off a bit then increased later on, just to show how well AT2 responds to this, and how dynamic the saturation really is
. I gotta say, I wasn't too excited about AT2 at first, but after hearing it at AES I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

I've used amplitube for a long time but I must say everybody should try out the FREE simulanalog stuff; I own a jcm 900 and it's pretty darn close, and somehow a lot more satisfying than a lot of the distortions that come out of amplitube. Each effect is a seperate VST for modular kiddies. Dont get me wrong, amplitube is killer but I find myself using this more often for straight up crunch and stuff.

I swear I read that as "how well AT2 responds to tits".make sure at least one example starts off with the guitar's volume backed off a bit then increased later on, just to show how well AT2 responds to this
Man, tits overflow here, as if such thing can ever exist

Thanks Funky. We're just talking. It's fun anyway. Not everyone has had the chance to see it and hear it like you though. Even then, you haven't been able to really play with it like I have since then. I am just floored by what it can do. It is the most vintage rock plug-in ever. I can't say anything but I am working with a few of your favorite artists right now and we are going to use AT2 on the tracks. When we're done I don't think there will be anyone on the planet who could tell if we used a real amp or not. It does the trick! But, more importantly it is FAST! Not to mention you can use headphones (I can rarely crank an AC30 at home for instance).
For those that are patiently waiting... hang in there. It is worth the wait. It won't be long now.

Squids, how does AT2 deal with tones like those in songs by Tool and Porcupine Tree. Specifically the tone in Tool's Schism is pretty unique sounding, could AT2 hit it?

"Fast" meaning what? When we're done I don't think there will be anyone on the planet who could tell if we used a real amp or not. It does the trick! But, more importantly it is FAST! Not to mention you can use headphones (I can rarely crank an AC30 at home for instance).
Squids, do you think that adding the dongle copy protection will make AT2 "slower"? ( AFAIK you're using a non protected version, right? )
