DX7 had 6 operators, so, FS1R had 2 more, actualky. And formant synthesis on top. I agree that it was "probably the best FM synth ever"DuX wrote: I think it's a really nice thought. 4x Repro5 and 1x Repro 1 (all with HQ settings) and some additional synth (Dune, Serum, HalionSonic) to fill the space

The FS1R does some cool sounds... but I would still rather have Bazille.fmr wrote:DX7 had 6 operators, so, FS1R had 2 more, actualky. And formant synthesis on top. If we're just tossing out wishful thinking, I'd just as soon see a four OP tabbed FM oscillator in Diva. FM8 style with a tab per operator, each with its own complex EG, a tab for routing, and whatever else was needed to make it a fairly complete FM source.V0RT3X wrote:I'd much rather have a DX5 personally

I for one would instabuy that, but it should be an order of magnitude better/more advanced than FM8 (think the easy page on steroids controlling a dozen or more operators at once to generate new fascinating and super high res sounding FM stuff). Also one feature for me would be to have presets divided into sine only aka "pure dx7 style fm" vs non sine based ones. Obvously being a u-he synth, I can lock the oscs to being sine only and then browse all patches with only sinesATN69 wrote:Make a nice FM synth u-he style..no need to be modelled on anything. Geez, Repro-5 isn't even done yet, nor is the preset browser, Zebra 2.8, or Zebra 3 and we're already on a whole new FM synth from U-he? Let's slow down!

A DX5 is nothing more than two DX7. Basically the DX7II was the same thing, with a couple more features.V0RT3X wrote:I'd much rather have a DX5 personally

At first glance, Bazille looks like a typical monophonic modular synth. But it's really a 4-op polyphonic FM/phase distortion synth with modular features. And it is amazing. Not quite plug and play, given the relative complexity of creating patches, but it's absolutely a killer synth.

Ingonator wrote:More or less yes but this time instead of starting from patches in Arturia Prophet V3 and tweaking them further i now start with the origianl patch sheets from the manual and do further tweaks from there (also based on audio demos) while the patch sheets seem to match already quite good in Repro-5.
So far i posted my first attempts of the "Brass" and "Low Strings" factory presets here (those are not fully optimized yet but IMO really good attempts).
Actually i wanted to have a look at the Sync patches next...![]()
As i do not have a real Prophet 5 it is of course still difficult to find if the patches are proper 1:1 replications or not.
If i just trust my ears independent of comparions the two i alredy did seem to sound really good on their own also better than in both Repro-1 and Arturia Prophet V3.
Nice Ingo! I adapted the Sync I from the patch book first, and tested it against the Arturia.
Thank you for your time in working with these patches!

See the attached patch: it is my take on the "Uniglide with Resonance". I would be honored if u-he made it a factory patch. I'm amazed (in a good way) how different the Repro-5 sounds as compared to the Repro-1.

All these posts about "do-this-FM, no-do-that-FM" are really quite depressing to see here in this thread.
RePro-5 hasn't even been out a week yet, it's arguably one of the greatest (maybe THE greatest) Virtual Analog synthesizer ever made, and yet the same folks who were begging for it month after month have already moved on to discuss some other next shiny thing....

It's just a conversation man, don't confuse this thread for making music, not the same thing.mholloway wrote:All these posts about "do-this-FM, no-do-that-FM" are really quite depressing to see here in this thread.
