So GAS isn't enough?
Anybody seen a cheaper price for Myth than the Tracktion site?

Guys, software is already exempt from all sales taxes and duties in the US. Ask yourself what is stopping them from doing it and you’ll quickly understand that nothing is going to change.

Post

This also applies to non-US people because tarifs are normally answered with tarifs by other countries. But I doubt that plugins will be affected because you can simply buy them directly from the producing country.
If you plan on purchasing your first Universal Audio hardware, you can get a free additional plugin. Just send a PM.

Some software places have charged me tax here in the US.

Was it boxed or delivered virtually? If it was the latter, they made a mistake.

it was downloadable music software. A couple places charged me tax actually.

A quick Google search seems to indicate that sales tax on digitally delivered canned software is in fact charged by a lot of states. Kentucky looks likes they might even try to trigger nexus if you use a CDN. Uncle E I'm guessing you are only required to collect tax for your state unless you use staff in other states or have other nexus triggers (potentially where you host your site, where your backups are stored, CDN nodes you use, etc). It's pretty random which sites have nexus with my state and I have to pay at purchase.

Most states have laws that if you weren't charged sales tax at time of purchase you still need to personally self report and pay the equivalent taxes yourself (though most people don't and hope it's not worth the bother to collect or don't realize the law says they have to pay those taxes).

I am relatively new to Mac and macOS. I am interested in upgrading to macOS Sequoia in the near future and have a question. When companies say that their plugins are not yet officially supported on the macOS Sequoia does it mean that plugins won't install at all or if they do they won't work properly?

I am used to Windows where the plugins just install and work fine when there's a new version, so I just wanted to understand the complexity of this when it comes to macOS.

May be a bit off topic, but just wanted a quick opinion so didn't create a separate topic.

Post

It just means they don't know whether there are issues. Generally, if they're not saying "wait before upgrading to Sequoia" the chances are they will work fine. They just can't guarantee it.

Post

it means everyone is scared because of past macos nightmares, but it will probably be fine unless they've expressly said their software doesn't work on Sequoia. Since mid to late Ventura it's been pretty much smooth sailing for most stuff. but if your rig is working fine - maybe hold off until the coast is clear.

if you have concerns for specific plugins you can list them and share, i can perhaps confirm some of them.

Post

Thank you friends, I understand now. Looks like most plugins should work fine, but I can wait until new year, as things are currently stable on Ventura. It's just that I skipped Sonoma and Sequoia looked interesting for a couple of features. Hopefully most plugins will be compatible by Q1 2025.

sqigls: I was concerned about all plugins in general, but if you are on macOS Sequoia and using NI, Soundtoys, Waves, Universal Audio, Arturia, etc. plugins, it would be good to know if they work as stable as they did with Ventura.
