From what i've read people would only be satisfied with a full emulation as all the others fall short for some reason, most common complaint is the envelopes. Even if one were to do a full emu i expect many would still complain due to rose tinted memories of their first synth and how awesome it was and how the emu is nothing like it even if it is dead on. If you don't do a full emulation one might as well just get Bazille. An emulation fits poorly in the U-He line up in my opinion. But then again i have a pretty bleak outlook about the world we live in and life in general.
I concur with this post. I would appreciate very much a full emulation of the CZ series, but it needs to have the eight stage envelopes, and that strange architecture in the output, where we can select line 1 + lie 1' or line 1 + line 2', together with the noise and the ring modulation switches - this feature is very much forgotten, and is very important to the overall sound.
Oh, and, of course, it needs to be DCO-DCW-DCA, with one eight stage envelope for each.
There's one synth recently released, which respects this architecture almost completely, but it's just for Windows, and the author forgot the line output detail.

I would love a mini PD synth.

Wouldn't have to be a full on CZ emu, but it should have the cutesy/plastic sound of the CZ series.

Agree... and I'd vote for "no CZ emulation".

+1 on Howard!

No emulation, go for the progress, for the future!
We are saturated by software emulations! :)

Post

Yeah, no... a faithful emulation would sound aweful.

However, a 2-line PD synth with 6 MSEGs sounds like something I could imagine.

I could also imagine a dedicted PD-Osc module for Zebra. Or maybe PD-modes for the FMOs.

We'll see... I'm currently busy as hell, and it's waaaay to hot in front of my computer.

I think emulation need only for some filters and distortion, not all...

I'd vote against those as well. The only addition to the oscillators I'd vote for would be a kind of intelligent internal "Wav2Z2". Now THAT would be useful :-)

An intelligent, internal wave to Zebra function would be great!!

(also please make oscFX type a modulation target)

Post

Heh, that's getting off topic!

(oscFX type can't be made a modulation target... onyl things that have knobs/faders can)

oh well... I just was working on a project where I was switching oscFX type with the mouse in realtime playing... which aint easy so was wishing I could automate it or modulate it...

Anyway, back to Bazille and a possible PD mini-synth!! :-)

Thats what we need

Hmmm... They're just 7 out of 8 CZ waveforms (phase inverted) and they don't seem to have any means to mix two waveforms...?

Post

I vote YAY! to pd mini synth :)

Post

wow just tried out the alpha of bazille for the first time and this is the best sounding soft synth i've ever heard. thanks!
