Have an Oberheim Xpander right here alongside the Matrix V, and it's definitely an emulation. Going through factory sound banks the differences between the sounds could easily be versions of chips in the hardware they emulated. It's enough to make me wonder whether having a 30 year old piece of hardware lying around is a good idea or not?Numanoid wrote:
I'm just saying that if the packaging indicates that a certain product is emulated, then the product needs to reflect that, otherwise it becomes a gimmick
Buying a Ford Cortina and getting a Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang is the better product, but if I wanted a Ford Cortina, I wanted a Ford Cortina...
I get it, personally years ago I thought some Arturia emulations were weak, and IMO some of the older ones do have aliasing or something like it happening on the higher notes, they can be much more digitally harsh than any analog sound, but overall they do emulate the hardware. the Hatred for Arturia IMO isn't justified on the basis of their sound or what they're attempting to do. The only reason I can think of is their old reliance on the eLicenser? Not saying that's why you have issues, but like I said having instant access to the Xpander (which is beyond voice limitations and better CV in options the same as a Matrix 12), I'm pretty impressed.
To be fair today I'll run some more comparisons, but just going through the factory sound bank on both hardware and software, it's very much a good emulation.
