Recently tried to buy Bitwig from Andrey.s.
Over the course of the past couple days I clarified what he was selling, how the license transfer would occur, what information he needed from me, and asked if he accepted paypal, which he said he did. After these exchanges, he told me he would start the transfer process as soon as he received payment. I decided to proceed, provided my account information, told him I would be sending money that day, and asked for confirmation once he received payment. At no point did he give me any indication that he may not be ready to move forward.
After payment was sent, he told me the deal was off, without an explanation.
Paypal says there was a refund, but there's no money in my account... Not sure why, could be just a delay in the transfer or something, which is strange as I've never seen this happen in Paypal, but regardless the rug being pulled only after sending money feels super shady. There was also some suggestion on his part of doing the license transfer by putting my name on his account and then changing the password... Maybe that's normal, I don't know, but in retrospect it feels a bit strange.
To be clear I am not making any outright accusations at this point, as this could just be him changing his mind and not bothering to waste any time explaining why (which in and of itself just seems like bad form), BUT it does make me wonder if that my sending money through paypal with purchase protection on is why he decided "the deal is off".
Andrey.s could be innocent, but I still think this was worth sharing, in case something else is going on. First attempt at buying through KVR, still anxious about the whole refunded money not in my account thing.
**EDIT: So I now understand that Paypal refunds do take some time to show up, so this is likely why it is not showing up in my account yet. So hopefully that will clear up in a few days.**
