I've been trying to get my head around this for 2 years. A concept slowly emerges, but I can't give an estimate about any When.xh3rv wrote:A request about oscillator presets in Zebra2:
If I load a preset oscillator, it's most often the case that I want to see what the waveforms sound like with the current parameters for oscillator effects, detuning & voicing, sync, panning, or anything else along these lines. Yet the current behavior resets all of these parameters when loading a preset oscillator.
Would it be possible to have oscillator presets just overwrite the waveforms, and maybe have the INIT oscillator preset reset all the parameters? I don't know if this would let me get better sounds out of Zebra but it would at least save me time if I'm getting compulsive about it
Improvements!

What if you could either load from the oscillator module (which changes all parameters in the module) or load from the waveform windows (which would leave the parameters alone in the module). For example, maybe a right click in the waveform window to load a single waveform, or a waveset.Urs wrote:I've been trying to get my head around this for 2 years. load each type of data based on its "place" in the interface...
load osc from main osc panel
right-click in the wide "current wave" display (in more osc x) to load a waveset
right-click on an individual wave image (one of 16, at the bottom of more osc x) to load an individual wave

OMG HyperComb! I don't know how I missed this before! I asked if some one could emulate the Roland feedback oscillator with Zebra a while ago and this comes really damn close. Closer than I could get with the comb filters. Urs how do you do it?

I love the way you assign parameters to X/Y pads in Zebra. So much in fact, that I wish you would do away with the mod matrix behind the voice mixer, duplicate the XY assign page and use it for modulation routing.
Also, it would be cool if you could make the X/Y pads modulation destinations. I want to be able to send those controllers through the modmappers.
Thanks

Have you tried turning up the oscillator Resolution when using Hypercomb?justin3am wrote:OMG HyperComb!

Yep, that's how I'm using it right now.Howard wrote:Have you tried turning up the oscillator Resolution when using Hypercomb?justin3am wrote:OMG HyperComb!

I just stumbled over this image and thought it gives a good picture how zebra 2.5 looks like...

I haven't noticed this before, so I'm assuming it could be a 2.3.1 bug: if you insert an LP vintage 2 filter into the effects matrix (VCF5) you get a sharp click on key down and key release (I just inserted it into the matrix for the init patch so it's definitely not a cpu issue. Also, none of the other filters do it). Can anyone else confirm?

justin3am also posted a similar problem with loads of crackles on release... something weird must be going on. I'm investigating this.suthnear wrote:if you insert an LP vintage 2 filter into the effects matrix (VCF5) you get a sharp click on key down and key release
Inserting fiters in the effects section can always be problematic though, as modulators like keyfollow, velocity etc. may dramatically change with each new note. Thus it's highly recommended to only use global modulators, or MSEGs in Single Trigger mode.

I created a patch that I'm using in an upcoming track that uses this issue to awesome effect. I used the LPV2 filter in position VCF5 followed by a compressor and delay. The cutoff of the filter and the ratio of the delay are both modulated by the same 'per voice' random hold LFO. The result is just wrong (in a good way).Urs wrote:![]()

Feature Request/Bug Report - In Zebra 2.3.1 clicking the Enjoy! tab does not noticeably alter the total User Joy value, however it may just be that I am abnormally insensitive - will run further tests... Also it would be cool if this was modulatable, including an inverse envelope for those times when having a generally bad day makes more sense.

It'd be nice to have an option that allows you to remap channel pressure to breath or expression.
One of my midi keyboards doesn't have channel pressure and when I use it I have to either scrub the patch to switch it to Xpress for the foot pedal or swap the #ms= values in the preset.
It'd be nice to have a global setting that allows you to remap the common modulation midi sources among each other, like breath, xpress, and channel pressure/aftertouch.

I've just bought Zebra and am enjoying getting to grips with it - thanks Urs!
I read through the manual and most of this thread before posting this but apologies in advance if I missed a way do this:
It would be good if it were possible to to switch Envelope 1 on and off in order to allow the OSC(s) to "free-run" (i.e. play continously). It would be nice to have the option not to have to hold down a key or run a sequence when programming a basic (or even not-so-basic) OSC sound. Alchemy's implementation of this works well (you can simply switch off any AHDSR applied to the AMP). Any chance of implementing this in Zebra?
