most likely going to change out the toggle switches for a knob. As it will end up in a Reaktor ensemble its the easiest way to make it user friendly as it will already be fustrating having tabbed pages.

I dont know about the name? it looks more like someone took out the center peice of sewing machine table and put in a pice of wood to serve as the surface for a filter.

I finished the first design I posted. It is mostly .psd files for those that have Photoshop. However, I animated everything in Knobman and put evrything into a Skinman files as well for those that dont have photoshop but might want to have a look at the final image.

I don't know if it's possible in Synthedit to place one knob on another and still be able to contro both.
Looks fine though. I still think the round plate should be brass/cooper.
It would not need everything from my filter.
Maybe:
knob LFO speed
knob LFO depth
switch LFO wave saw/square
switch Sat
knob Reso
knob dial Cutoff
and maybe a switch to change to highpass or bandpass?

Some of the AMB & BK synthlab plugins uses "layered" knobs and those plugins are made with synthedit, so it's possible but I've never used synthedit so I don't know how.

Or we could make an Autowah from this.
Just the big dial for Amount, a small one for Sensitivity and a Bypass-switch....

WOW

The last two pages of images are pretty amazing!!!!!

If you really needed to add more knobs to it this is what I would do. I would add knobs to that second plate which at this moment is doing nothing. I'd remove the resonance text and place another control there in its place and move the resonance control to the center knob as a second arm, actually now that I think of that I would change the arms to something else, the range of motion would be split by the joint in the center inlay image. Phonographs also had a speed control, some on the top, you could add a control tht mimmics that and use it to control which page is being displayed.

For me the image as is should work for a reaktor ensemble because I am making other designs for other controls, the lower right decoration might be an ADSR though, so I would change that up a bit to match the other shape.

realizing the graphics I've post above dont really fall into the steampunk vain, I took another shot at it. Still working on it have a long way to go yet, I hope to have the knob graphics into knobman by tonight.

edit: updated the image to reflect the finished GUI, the .psd file and knobman file for the knob with the color indicator are on my blog.

In order to have a proper implementation the knobs need to produce squeaking and creaking sounds when manipulated and also when they are near the extremes there should be the hiss of escaping water vapor.

small knob (png layers to knobman indicator color changes done in knobman, .psd source file included). Same old concept for knobs but the packaging looks a little different then normal: http://www.box.net/shared/pydb0i90ni

No problem, SE graphics make us of png file's alpha channels, so if you save a graphic with a hole in the middle and place another control in the hole, you can still control both seperately. It's only areas that contain actual graphic info that are seen by SE, anything "clear" (the alpha channel) is ignored.

You may find this doesn't seem to work too well at first and this will almost certainly be caused by the controls graphics being in an unlocked container. When working with graphics it's always better to place your controls where you want them and then lock the container they are in to make sure the controls respond correctly. When a container is unlocked, the way SE selects graphics is slghtly different because it's in a sort of "design" mode where it's expecting you to be setting up the layout rather than actually using the controls. ;)

Anyway I also like the first design, I just made some changes and will put an autofilter inside. (strange to have the graphic first and then make a plugin for it  )

I did two version of another GUI that goes with the knob above. Its all .psd files I didn't think to make a .bmp or skinman version before I uploaded them. I'll have to make a seperate version for that, perhaps try something different by loading a bunch of .pngs so it can be edit to some degree, perhaps in the next few days it will take a bit to isolate everything to make it work correctly.

anyway here the link to the guis one in .psd format
