By the way, I think it would be really cool if you made a low quality and nano mode in Aether like you did with B2. Those modes are super useful! Nano is just the thing sometimes.
Any chance?
Also what preset is responsible for the demo on the site called "Aether Synth Sine Mel Wet"? That is an amazing example.

...ya, that's kinda how we felt in 2012 or so, when we were about to start making an Aether 2.0. We decided there was no need for it yet. Making a verb as complex as Aether or B2, is part art, part science. The art part has a lot of luck built into the process. Safe to say we don't know ourselves 100% why exactly Aether has it's own magical sound. Same with B2. We are quite analytical, but there comes a point where some decisions are guided by intutiution, heuristics, and well good-old-fashioned ears, and there is not a "mathematically correct" answer, or at least we don't know this answer or even the precise question sometimes! Tuning these beasts is a quite tricky task, so when we achieve something great, partially by luck, we are careful not to undo it.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Damn you Aether, why do you have to sound so nice when I'm trying to simplify my collection!
If it ain't broken, don't "fix it".
That said we are working on some really great things that we hope we will be able to share in the next year or so... There will be an Aether sequel of some variety and we have begun some initial work on it... Same for all our verbs. The question will become should keep Aether 1.x around as a parallel product, or should we replace it with 2.0 or whatever... tricky question. Things to think about...

Not sure yet. We can certainly consider it, but in the next gen of Aether and B2 we will try to differentiate them even more than they are already.Echoes in the Attic wrote:By the way, I think it would be really cool if you made a low quality and nano mode in Aether like you did with B2. Well generaly my memory is quite good, but that was like 7 years ago now and I have no idea.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Also what preset is responsible for the demo on the site called "Aether Synth Sine Mel Wet"? That is an amazing example.

Hi Andrew,
I just installed Digital Performer 9 on my 13" Macbook and when I open Aether the GUI is
huge (taking up the whole screen while only showing about 2/3 of itself). Any ideas on
what might be going on here/ I don't think I had this problem with DP 8 so it may be a
MOTU issue, but I haven't seen it happening with any of my other plugins in 9. I am
on OSX 10.6.8 btw,
Thanks for your help!

Yes, the solution is: you need a 4K Display, then you will see how software GUIs should really look and feel!
(really, honestly I do actually believe that.... it's amazing once you see it...)
Until then, (and, ok, ok, if you are using a laptop) simply go to the INFO page of the GUI, and choose on one the skins that does NOT contain "HD" (i.e. High Definition) in the title. Then reload Aether. Now things will be back to the original/normal/1X size... Problem solved.
Probably you just changed this preference somehow by accident?

That did the trick! I don't remember changing it but I was wondering if it defaults
to the HD version on the latest version.
I appreciate your very prompt response as well.
Cheers,
Scott

I still love the HD size. Often when spending so much time on other plugins, its almost startling to jump back to the Aether UI, but that is the size I appreciate most (and I still haven't jumped to 4K, as I'm currently on 2K but the size is lovely all the same).Galbanum wrote:rexlapin wrote:Hi Andrew,

Yes Absolutely. See the Upgrades and Crossgrades section of the email where I wrote:
Send us an email for details. Thanks. Finally there are upgrade paths for existing customers who would like to upgrade to the complete Perfect Storm 2.5 bundle. It is our opinion that all customers should be eventually Perfect Storm customers and we are happy to help you get there whenever you are ready. The upgrade pricing is normally 60% of the retail price of whatever you are currently missing from the bundle. Please email us for details, and we will make you a special Summer Dream Offer!
