Deleting notes with 1 mouse click

Finally had the two minutes to fit in actually trying it! :lol:

Yes, that all seems very comfortable. I can zoom in, adjust notes, draw and delete all very easily without having to remember which tool I need to select or worry about which modifier key to press. It really does free the mind to concentrate on the creative aspect rather than the constructive aspect, whilst editing, I think!

I'd love to be able to zoom and free-pan at the same time...

MMB (i.e. MW on MW mice) double click to restore "default zoom level" (i.e. what clicking the little circle does) might be nice, too.

How do you mean 'at the same time' ?

I think he means Free-Pan with RMB and Zoom with MMB while is Panning.
In XT is possible:
RMB = Free-Panning + MMB = Scrolling horizontally
RMB = Free-Panning + MMB+Ctrl = Zoom
Very powerful. :shrug:

The Key for flow is RMB for Total Panning (Up/Down/Left/Right: simultaneously of course.:hihi: ) because after that, anything can take you anywhere in the editor at any precise point even while playing (especially with your wonderful arrows buttons: Back-Play, Back-Play....).

But also in ext they're not working 'at the same time'.

Yes MMB/RMB panning will be possible bi-directional, no prob.

In fact it will be a user-preference whether it's uni- or bi-directional.

Just need to decide what will be the default out-of-the-box setting.

This preview is about these aspects: (cfr discussed in this topic)
  • You can now also pan the editors with RMB
  • Double-click note with pencil = delete note
  • Sequence editor: Start drag vertical = lasso select
  • Sequence editor: Start drag horizontal = draw new note
  • Sequence editor: When draw new note, you can cancel it by zeroing the length
The note editing aspects are only there in the sequence editor, but when accepted they'll also be applied to the composer.

Note that this preview version is totally unusable for anything else than previewing the mentioned aspects.
Here is this similar preview for OSX:

Jo they do.
While the RMB is down you can still scroll with the wheel or Ctrl/Wheel zoom in and Pan simultaneously .

Ah ok, got 2.07 here, sorry.

Downloaded 2.5 demo. (where is 2.5.1?)

Mmm, when i RMB-pan the composer, and meanwhile turn the MW with or without control, the MW still does not have any effect.

Maybe a change in 2.5 -> 2.5.1?

The mouse works in the Midi Parts when you open them by double clicking on one of them, it's a floating window.

BTW in the Main view (Composer?) the Wheel works for scrolling but not for zooming as in the Midi Part Editor.

Once it was asked Steve Jobs regarding the fact that the Apple Interface Idea was "Taken" from Xerox while MS Windows was a duplicate attempt to the Apple Interface.
Job answered by quoting the great Picasso:
"Good Artist Copy. Great Artist STEAL!"
I couldn't agree more :hihi:

right, some thoughts: (just moved, no internet, so on phone - apols for formatting) the double click delete works excellently, although i wish it also worked for all selected notes at a time. Also, i was skeptical about the horizontal/vertical drag, but after trying it out, i think it's actually a fairly elegant solution. An improvement could be made is in the detection though, i think - rather than basing detection on the first pixels moved, which are occasionally misleading, using the overall direction of the cursor. E.g. A line at less than 45 degrees is treated as horz, a line at more as vertical. Good stuff though, can't wait to use these features in mainstream releases.

Yep, that's already in M3 here in the dev room.

I also have a good feeling with it :)

But then when is decission taken whether it's horizontal/vertical (or less/more than 45°)?

It could be based on the angle resulting between the first Pixel and whatever you think is right: 4th, 10th etc. pixel on the move as long is not too far from jumping away from the intended note position. A trade off. :ud:
