Ah... yeah... that might be an idea...
Well, that's what puts stuff like an eventide pitchfactor above stuff like a boss pitch shift delay pedal. I wasn't sure if it would be in this plugin or not, as I'm kind of unsure whether this is meant to be a pitch shifter or a grains effect...

man, the eventide pitch factor is just the coolest pedal ever, isn't it? I haven't lusted after guitar pedals since, like, eighth grade, and now I find myself wondering if I could swing the $500 for a single pedal.

Me too, but I'm hoping uhbik-G and Discord 3 (coming later this year from audiodamage) will together alleviate that. I use an apogee duet so I don't really have the spare I/O for hardware effects anyway.

Discord 3?! That's not the one he's announcing this week, is it?

No. It's a "sometime in 2009" thing. I guess it's going to add diatonic shifting (as I described above), reverb, and maybe some other stuff. (plus a new algorithm which according to CR sounds a lot better)

but anyway, I didn't mean to advertise a competitors product in u-he's forum (does urs even consider audio damage a competitor? I know CR didn't back when there was a blog post about complex plugs like MFM2 vs simple plugs like dubstation... But now that there's uhbik, I can see that competing with audio damage plugins for the same market...)

I like Chris. He sometimes blogs about my stuff so I don't see why we can't mention their's here... :)

BTW the ModMapper in Zebra2 can be used for defining individual offsets for each note - including diatonic 3-note trills. Extremely fiddly, but possible.

True. Now the only thing missing is a pitch shifter in Zebra :-P

I guess I'll try to add this to Uhbik-G. Maybe. Or later.

I like Zebrify!

(warning: clips terribly... intentionally)
I'm still not terribly impressed with the shaper/distortion in Zebra, but the 'strong' compressor model with zero attack and decay is fantastic.

That's fine for midi harmonies in zebra, but I'm talking about running a voice or guitar through an uhbik.

Yeah, the shaper/distortion is the weak part of Zebra for me.

Every Zebra should have a Camel, a really phat one

It must be hard for developers who put all that effort in to writing perfect oscillator code only to be asked for another module that totally destroys it :D

Peace,
Andy.

When you compare it to something like a Doepfer A-116 Waveform processor or similar wave shapers it's actually pretty powerful. It's not great as a typical distortion/overdrive/clipper but when you run it in parallel with the clean signal to a filter it really helps fatten oscillators up in a gritty dirty way. Thats my approach to getting those really gritty Roland SH series sounds anyway.

This is the kind of sound I like those shapers for.
