Ohhh sorry, that's MY mistake  , I was suposed to tune those samples the other day and I forgot. It IS on my ToDo list for the RELEASE version, but I will do this ASAP so we can test better.

I will also re-check for LOOP points to be sure there is no bad-loop points.

I know what you're saying...since we can load 3, since they're just a hair different it sounds odd...

EDIT Sorry Will I didn't see your last post before I wrote that...I was in the other room doing dishes and came back still on page 3

Hi.,

Ok a couple of small ones, some have kind of been addressed all ready.

The first one is to do with the stuck note when changing the number of voices. Try playing some chords starting with 16 voices and lower to 15 then to 14, it tops out the CPU in 2 secs. I continued down to 12 and it crashed my host (SX).

Also the strange one, I was tweaking some settings and suddenly the settings for the Chorus effect disappeared completly. I had to reload the effect and lost my settings. Not quite sure what caused it, but I will continue to try and re-create the problem.

As I type I recreated it :-)

Have the synth window open and on top of the arrangement window. Then click on the arrangement window so the plugin goes to the "back". Now use the "edit" buttons in SX Track Inspector or from the VSTi Rack and bring the plugin to the front again !! Hey Presto - NO Knobs !!!

I have sent you a small screen shot of the problem William.

Just a simple refresh problem I guess, but it all counts !

Cheers,
DJJ

PS - If you tweak the glide all the way up and play in the higher end of the keyboard with I can get resonance and some synth like noises. Not sure if it is supposed to do it though !

I get the stuck notes, but I can walk it all the way from 16 to 1, and it doesn't overload on mine or crash. SX 1.05.61.

Hi William,

I been trying my best to find a problem using Cubase 1.06 as a host but since version 3 have not been able to.

Those complaing of clicks should try turning the attack down a bit, but for some pathces it can actually be very effective to leave it as it is.

Paul

Hi Devon,

It might also be a soundcard problem at my end that is causing the overload. I only have a SBLive! and have tweaked the latency down a bit, I will test it later at different settings.

Hey DJJ...are you still using Creative drivers? If so, have you tried http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/intro.php instead?

Post

Hi Ford,

Yes I give the KX drivers a try, but I didn't like them and at the time I only had a Duron 800 so I was getting lots of pops and crackles, I may give them another try now I have a faster chip. Although the interface on them sux !!

Thanx for the link though :D

Hi,

These are my details on the test i made on EVE, i remind you of my configuration:

Win XP, 640Mo Ram, Acid Pro 4.0e, Creamware luna2 audio card, Geforce2 as graphic card, 30GO Hdisk and a second Hd on firewire port.

1) No problems during the install of the VSti or to launch the prog.

2) I tried Eve in no different ways i worked with other vsti. i used it as if it wasn't in Beta testing. it respond in a good way. i thinck i worked with it for more than twelve hours in different sessions. No probelms during these test.

3) I agree with post that said that it could be easier to test EVE with more preset. I tried to tweak the sounds but you really find an end to the tweaking and to the test with only two preset, sorry. I know that you will not realease your vsti with two presets... :)

4) tweaking the sounds of the presets didn't really give me the impressiojn to have a lot of control of the sounds, i agree too with the lack of reso and cutoff on sounds. And, i agree too on the LP point, it caused me too to have pops and clicks on the sounds. I'm not sure it's a feature of your vsti... The delay lacks too, to have some informations about the how it affected on the sounds, to sync it with bpm or patterns, or whatever you want or you decided. For me, you could use of the classics, 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, etc... For each Eve's modulators.

5) It could be great too, but i thinck that you will put it in your prog; i hope :) at least... To save, not only the init (the configuration of Eve) but also to save each of the preset: you could mix different init to build a new set... Why not having preset init and session init?...

6) I wait from you to tell us more about the preset list, "two presets" is not really great... And i'm waiting to see what syle of sounds family you will put in your vsti. Did you thinck of letting us use of Aiff, acidized or wave sample to build our own preset.

Hope you'll find some remarks in my review.
Still work hard on your vsti, i believe it could be a cool one. I'll finish on the GUi, i like it.
Cheers to all,
Xavier

Hey Will .. I managed to cause Cubase to crash with Eve.
This is what I do.

Open Cubase.
Press F11 for VST Instruments
Select Eve from the range of plugs in my collection.
Select the "e" to show the plugin.
Select the "e" again hide the plugin.
I then click on the drop down button for the presets in the vst rack and select any at random .. even though they say "init".
Then presto ....

"Unknown Exception in cubasesx.exe"

(edited)

As for the stuck notes for 4 key chords. I cannot generate this error. I have tryed to replicate it multiple times using different methods but cannot do it. Perhaps its sound card specific.

NEW BETA UPDATE 4
  • Added Volume-Type properly, now it works.
  • When changing Midi-Channel trigers AllNotesOff to prevent stuck-notes
  • When changing VelocityZone/Velocity it checks if any current note
is "under" the settings and "deletes" this note. This avoids stuck-notes
when doing changes on those settings.
  • Added Mute knobs.
  • Replaced Chorus code.
  • Retuned and Relooped some samples carefully (must download the COMPLETE setup file)
  • OSC3 Delay send is working now.
  • Internal fixes
  • Complete About page
  • New LOGO and Installer, please, let us know what you think about the new LOGO specially.
About the problem above, I can totally reproduce it here, so for beta-5 it will be fixed. ;)

Best Regards, WilliamK

NEW BETA UPDATE 5

We just uploaded another beta version. The sample updates are on the complete beta-4 file. And the new DLL is in the Beta-5 UPDATE.

Here is the list of fixes
  • Fixed the problem on disapearing knobs.
  • Fixed the crash on changing presets after opening and closing the Editor. (Chainer and Cubase)
  • Modulator knobs now are shaded when not used, using better the empty space. Let us know if you like this feature.
  • Other internal fixes.
Tomorrow I will release another version with a new feature. The Pitch-Envelope will have a selector A B C so you can use it only on one part. Some graphics will also get updates. The Glider A bt will be name AUTO or something like that, to avoid confusions.

thanks William and all... I've been a little slow due to having to deal with other things last few days... will wait for the beta 6 you mention... but IMHO this is gonna be a lovely instrument

I think it's a brilliant idea... keyzones and all... and I know the little pests like have been mentioned so far will get cleared up... sample tuning and such...

I was working last with beta 3 in SX 1.06 and it seemed quite stable and happy to me...

OK more time perhaps tomorrow, but again... I like this puppy!

ok got the beta 4 and 5... nothing tested yet but the installers which are quite nice... clean looking and smooth working.

however... I recently came across one of the slickest installers I've ever seen... for a Photoshop plugin... let me find the url for it and maybe you can try it for inspiration.

Mind you, there is NOTHING wrong with what you have, but this one is really something to see... :D

ah yes OT in a way but here it is:

http://www.avbros.com/english/downloads.html

you can download the demo and see what I mean...

ok back to sleep and then testing...

darn just had to play with it a little... small thing... on the keyboard at bottom of the gui, the lowest and highest white keys do not seem to make sound at all... I realize they are rather [ahem] extreme keys and not likely to get much use, but if you show them... they should make sound when clicked on, yes?

I might suggest a line of numbers under the keyboard... you know, like c-2, c-1, c 0, c 1, etc.... hard to count as I set the sliders with my ancient eyeballs [yes, even with my glasses on... ]

ok ever onward
