Did U try ZynaddSubFX or gave up on the interface? With a bit of effort, a lot of nice presets can be installed (set path in options) and after selected via an easy to use page. Imo, this synth has a range of sounds only Synth1 can match and most sound very good indeed.

A bit hassle to edit sounds with all the windows and alt-tabbing etc, but once midi learn is set for common parameters it's quite ok to tweak.

When I was looking at and checking out what was free or donationware, I used this...

He lists(in his opinion) the best free synths, I used this and compyfox's list...

oh.. Amazing site. Thanks breakmixer.. :)

and ZynaddSubFX? I deleted it already twice! Do I have to set up again? I have to think slowly... :) Thanks V'ger

Oops.. really good.. :D This is a GM synth..
I like music

Hey V'ger :) zynaddsubfx has been on my pc for years :) I was already familiar with it :). I recently installed the latest vst version on a new PC and because I don't have the older version, some patches aren't opening. Just something to be aware of. You have to keep all previous versions installed... The Fabrausch synth I am passing on. Don't like that I have to use a Midi out in Fl studio to switch patches. The patch names show up wrong. Etc.. Not worth it for me.. Also couldn't get the new Voyager skin to work in FL but getting used to the original ghetto one (using a 28" monitor so I don't mind big GUI's.)
Play it by ear

1 + for voyager, ..the problem (?) , it will never be updated again, can be slow loading up on old systems,

(..now if someone has time to do new knobs for the limeflavour's voyager guis, would be thankfull..)

Everyone seems to think the Synth1 are good Free Alpha (I think the basic 64 is good too). Any more really good free ones?

It's a good list, even lists the freeware romplers like Proteus VX, Kore Player, Wusikstation CM etc. It also lists the best free physical modeling instruments too.

The only thing missing is Freeware/Donationware Drum samplers & Samplers, like Shorcircuit and so forth,

For someone on a budget, starting out, it's an excellent place to start, cuts most of the nonsense of downloading freeware synths. I agree with most of his choices but only installed a handfull of them. But saying that, there is not much freeware/donationware I have installed that isn't on his list.

Hey :) I wasn't aware about the version incompatibility, I just downloaded the latest and with that all patches i've found works.

Haven't had any patch trouble with Fabrausch in Cubase, but automation is not working which sucks.

Shame you're not getting the Voyager skin working, but agree the original is also ok once learned.

I also like the skin LF did for Xhip over the one that comes with the latest stable beta.

Many Thanks to LimeFlavor!
Hey 1-2-Many,

Any chance you could send me the link to your Oatmeal All-in-one pack?

Edit: Nevermind--I was thinking of someone else's all-in-one pack. Your's is the SQ8L patches pack. :-)

P.S. How goes it in your part of the state? ;-)
