Do you use *Metro* ?

Thank you. If Metro is more straightforward for editing and revising than the current crop of sequencers and beat makers, it may become popular. Looking forward to the video.

There are many ways to move stuff around when dealing with linear tracks. However your question seemed to specifically address sections (and subsections) so while I am not exactly sure what you are looking for hopefully this is it. If not, please let me know:Jake Jackson wrote:I've watched the Metro videos on Youtube. One subject that I hoped to learn more about is not covered--moving sections\passages around. Several other people here seem interested in how Metro lets the user do this. Could you post a video?

Your demo starts a little later than I anticipated, but does answer most of my questions about editing.
I do have a question about creating the sections, however. Essentially, I want something simple: the ability to establish sections before or as I play, instead of having to go in and insert sections or cut\copy and paste. The goal is have a straightforward way to record, say, two verses and then a chorus, with each isolated in a part. One could then drag them around to rearrange their sequence. Does Metro allow the user to create sections prior to recording?

Again I am not sure I understand your question but I believe the answer is: yes, that is exactly the way subsections work.Jake Jackson wrote: I do have a question about creating the sections, however. There is a section window and there you select the section you want to deal with. You could, for example, name the first 3 sections, "Verse1", "Verse2" and "Chorus" respectively. Then go and create/record the verses and chorus in the respective section. All tracks start at measure 1 in their respective section and you can loop any tracks you want. Once you have the parts completed you can then create subsections (as in the video) and drag them around to create the song.
With subsections, once you have the structure of the song the way you want it, you can then also record a linear track (like a lead line across the chorus and verses) with the subsections located on a different track. Or you could expand the subsections. I like to copy the parent section and then expand the subsections in case I want to revisit the songs structure later.

I took this post at face value when I purchased Metro v 6 in October, but guess I should have been more careful, as it wasn't after all the dev who wrote this; at all events it looks like the upgrade to Metro 7 is not free, but rather is $35, as seen heregoldenanalog wrote:I just bought it; it looks like the dev might be starting to 'plug into' KVR...
The free upgrade to version 7 looks huge...

which is a *very* generous price -- am not complaining -- but rather just setting the record straight, in case any one else had expected a free upgrade

I tried the demo as I'm looking for a DAW with integrated notation. But I had lots of weird Midi and Audio artefacts, including stuck notes.

I don't ever get stuck notes with over 500 different plug-ins. What plug-ins or hardware were you using?

I have never had stuck notes with either Strobe or Sylenth1. I don't have Diversion. You might want to check that your MIDI cables (or USB cable) are not loose.Torchlight wrote:A Macbook Air, a Korg Microkey 61 and various plugins, including Diversion, Strobe (DCAM Synth Squad) and Sylenth1.SaganTech wrote:I don't ever get stuck notes with over 500 different plug-ins. I played the same synths a few minutes later in Ableton Live without problems.

That does not prove anything.Torchlight wrote:I played the same synths a few minutes later in Ableton Live without problems.
