Sound quality/memory handling irrelevant, people just want to call up the plugin without any fuss.
To make an issue about it being a little fuzzy to use a bridge in a 64 bit environment, is to me like getting a free dinner served, and then making a fuzz about the chore of having to put the dishwasher on afterwards
Tone2 Firebird+ is freeware (download available now)

Ya not wrong.
Just that I got BiFilter 2 magware and as I'm on a Mac there's no 64 bit. I wrote and Bastiaan said "maybe someday' so it never harms to be a bit pushy as a customer

All other Tone2 synths are fully 64-bit compatible, even for Mac now.GaryG wrote:I think 64bit support is just a major convenience for a lot (most?) people now, no need to mess around with bridges etc.

Doing Mac 64-bit for ElectraX and Gladiator 2 was done last year (in quite long beta tests) and it seemed to be a major PITA as this needed a complete rewrite of the graphics engine, including the Windows version.
I discussed this more detailed in one of my last posts including a link to the Firebird forum.

That would be awesome. I really dig this little synth and it would be interesting for me listening to other peoples work and learn from it. Perhaps some modulation setting I haven't come across or a Filter I have not tried that much.pandashake wrote:Would you guys be interested in perhaps me re-releasing my old tDNR soundset I did for firebird+ as a freebie? If there is enough interest, I'll talk to Stephen about doing it.

Just wondering, what's today's status concerning the (accusations of) host file editing and calling home in Tone2 plugins? Personally, regardsless of manufacturer, i've always been very protective of my DAW when installing software.
The rumor back then really turned me off towards Tone2 products.
Apart from that i'd be keen to try Firebird+!

That discussion was the reason why Markus and Bastiaan from Tone2 left KVR so i am not interested in opening a can of worms by discussing it here again.zeep wrote:Just wondering, what's today's status concerning the (accusations of) host file editing and calling home in Tone2 plugins? All i could say is i got all Tone2 synth, love them to death (especially Saurus, Rayblaster and ElectraX) and had/have no problems with those, including the copy protection.

Yeah... I understand why they left, but still miss them. KvR can be a rough place sometimes.Ingonator wrote:That discussion was the reason why Markus and Bastiaan from Tone2 left KVR so i am not interested in opening a can of worms by discussing it here again.zeep wrote:Just wondering, what's today's status concerning the (accusations of) host file editing and calling home in Tone2 plugins? But at least it's a forum at KVR.DrGonzo wrote:Yeah... I understand why they left, but still miss them. KvR can be a rough place sometimes.
Over at Tone 2's "Forum" nobody is allowed to reply to their postings/announcements.

Odd. why leave KVR because of such a more than justified discussion? Seems like they had something to hide. Else they would simply have explained what their protection does and does not do, period.

That is totally wrong. It's just the announcement threads that are locked but every registered forum member (= customer) is free to post at the forum:Numanoid wrote:But at least it's a forum at KVR.DrGonzo wrote:Yeah... Firebird sub-forum:

Those who like could create a new thread there that refers to the announcement.

KVR, like other forums, or places on the net, giving a platform for people to post their opinions, sometimes does not represent the opinion of the majority, but of those who shout the loudest. I think the best way of handling that is in a professional manner, but obviously sometimes you'll be pretty fed up with all of this. I only can speculate, but maybe that was the case here, or they felt like people could join the Tone2 forums for support and discussion.fluffy_little_something wrote:Odd. why leave KVR because of such a more than justified discussion?
But honestly, you feel like a copy protection discussion if the most important thing about software? My version of Firebird+ which i got from a Beat mag DVD never phones home btw. I don't know what's the fuss about it.

Which is one of the reasons why i asked here about that issue. Another reason is that usually kvr is bluntly honest with people clearly for and against such trivial things.Ingonator wrote:..One restriction is that you have to be a customer to enter the forum.
