But was already free for a Facebook like a couple of months ago, and before that came free with Beat Magazine.

Well, for one you have to get a FB account (ew...), for the other you have to buy a mag.Numanoid wrote:But was already free for a Facebook like a couple of months ago, and before that came free with Beat Magazine.

Seems sorta odd to announce it in advance. I mean, who's going to buy it now? Why not just make it free and be done with it?

Well, it usually needs a bit of preparation, setting up a new web page for Firebird, preparing download servers... would be cool though if they announced it on their website, so that people know.

....and, what's the catch with that?chk071 wrote:Well, for one you have to get a FB account (ew...)
Firebird got a lot of mileage left, it is good that they decide to liberate it rather than putting the legacy in their vault.
Mabye some more patches for Firebird will be a result of this, I hope so

As the OP noted, they also started a promotion that if you buy Firebird now, you get one of their effects for free.cryophonik wrote:Seems sorta odd to announce it in advance. I mean, who's going to buy it now? Why not just make it free and be done with it?
So, that's why someone might buy it before it goes free.

In the last 12 months, I already got Firebird for free plus Warmverb for free via Beat Magazine. And From CM I got another Tone2 effect for free.jsp1979 wrote:They also started a promotion that if you buy Firebird now, you get one of their effects for free.
That will have to do for now

I just don't like it... neither as a "social website" nor as what it really is, a massive advertising platform. And especially i don't like that "like" thing, where i basically just provide a company with a vote to make it more popular. It makes me feel like i am exploited for their marketing. All my personal opinion of course.Numanoid wrote:....and, what's the catch with that?chk071 wrote:Well, for one you have to get a FB account (ew...)

Which makes absolutely no sense because their respective effect plugins cost as much as Firebird+...jsp1979 wrote:As the OP noted, they also started a promotion that if you buy Firebird now, you get one of their effects for free.cryophonik wrote:Seems sorta odd to announce it in advance. Probably applies to that customer who just can't wait for Firebird to go free, or who is buying a Tone2 effect anyhowTricky-Loops wrote:Which makes absolutely no sense because their respective effect plugins cost as much as Firebird+...
