A device that let's you load pics would be cool and simple to code, be useful for hardware inserts and hardware synth chains

• Another feature request... and this time a tool:
Since we don't have a step sequencer device yet (I hope), I think Bitwig needs a more specialized/faster tool for creating drums in piano roll/drum editing.
So I introduce to you: the imaginary "Drum Step Tool"... Cool name huh??... Lol

Ok, this is how it should work:
Single left click = draw. Yeah, just like the pen tool...
See pic:

Single right click = delete. Yes, it's faster and avoid many mistakes.
See pic:

Left click and drag = fill steps. What's more convenient and faster than this?
See pic:

And yes you guess:
Right click and drag = delete...
See pic:

Of course this tool can be enhanced with modifiers keys etc, but those are the basic functions urgently needed in Bitwig...
A tool like this would be a huge improvement in workflow IMHO.
The creation of drums would be a lot faster, and I believe that the Bitwig team can create this tool in a blink of the eye.
So let's start praying........
And an other thing somewhat related: Bitwig should remember the last tool used in editors, it would avoid switching tools all the time... (e.g. if you used the pen tool in piano roll and then changed to object selection tool to use in the arranger view, when you go back to the piano roll, the tool should change back to the pen tool...
And better yet, each editor/view could have his own set of tools, or at least the piano roll could have his own tools..... it would be really great..
Cheers.

A right click pop up tool bar like in cubase would be better and give more options and faster workflow in all sections of BitwigRegnas wrote:• Another feature request... and this time a tool:

he means an option in the preferences, that let you open a tool selection window with rightclick instead of the current menu. Honestly i prefer shortcuts and like to have the rightclick menu with its options like bounce in place etc, but that is subjective.

i can find worse and better things in those daws ive tried. ableton is cool, fl has nice functions and bitwig also. But what makes bitwigs strong point stand out is because it has things the others dont, and vice versa. There are some functions i miss from ableton and fl but overall i like bitwig
Feature request to tech support anythgin in mind, if they dont want it they will let you know

I've sent this over to tech support many months ago, based on the replies i got i don't think we'll ever get this though.
It would make working in the piano roll so much faster - but i've pretty much given up on Bitwig in that regard.

They may still tweak the existing tools, in fact I'd be surprised if they didn't at least a little bit. In one of the videos of 1.2 I saw that they had already altered the layered editing a bit.

This is a video i made using FL Studio's piano roll to show how my perfect "drum step tool"
would behave:
Note that this video is monophonic mode, which could be used for basslines - useless for drums of course.
But maybe polyphonic mode could be default and monophonic mode would be activated by a modifier (Alt + left click and drag to draw basslines maybe? Or a right click on the tool icon to switch between mono- and polyphonic mode?

Speaking of midi editing, it would be nice if you only had to click once rather than double click to add a note using the pointer tool. You can do that with the pen tool of course, but I find that switching all the time is at least as much of a hassle so I don't bother.
