Urs, your meticulous approach to things is one of the reasons all your apps shine.

Me, I'd just use pitch/ varispeed/offset/fade to simulate bleedthrough. I wouldn't worry about the almost imperceptible impact of the diameter of the adjacent tape layer.

Working in studios since the late 70's, I consider it a bad thing. I'm sure there have been some cool artistic tape bleed accidents, though the only one I can recall was a Led Zeppelin track.

Heh. Now trying it on something is on my to-do list, darn it. O.o

What I like about the new brave DAW world is that it's easier to develop your sound in the direction you want: you wanna sound clean? or you wanna sound vintage? an strange mix of both?

Before you had the sound your tools allowed but now with so many cheap options you can craft the kind of sound you want, its not about "best" or "better" it's about what you like and how you want your music to sound like.
